Can someone tell me what is the best book for performing street magic? Also with the details on where I can purchase it internationally. Thanks all.

Greetings and Salutations Amadeus,
First get over to the street magic forum, there is a wealth of information on that board. In response to your question, hands down, "The Royal Touch" by Jim Cellini. Go to Google.com and type in "The Royal Touch" and Cellini, and a Swiss (I think) site will come up fairly high on the list. I believe it is available there. Then get Cellini's "The Art of Street Performing" on video or DVD, it doesn't teach any effects, but it will teach you how to survive and thrive on the streets. Good luck, and have fun in the streets. Joe in KC |

Another good selection that I've enjoyed is the book about Harry Anderson titled 'Wise Guy' by Mike Caveney. It has a lot of material about how he developed his act on the streets and gives a bunch of really good routines.

For Cellini's Royal Touch you might want to check out Misdirections Magic shop in San Francisco (they have a website, just do a search). They had several copies when I was in there about a month ago. Great book.

For the record, Cellini's "The Royal Touch" book is also available from Hocus Pocus and H&R Magic Bookshop.

I'm not saying their arn't any (Las Vegas Leaper comes to mind. . .?), but I am saying not to buy this if you want to get into street. Invest your money in Cellini's tape. If you have any leftover, buy Gazzo's tape on the C&B. Also know that no amount of preperation and research will *fully* prepare you for first time on the streets. You just gotta dive in. All of us have been there. You'll learn a LOT of stuff very quickly. . . Good Luck! |

HI,
I think that there might be a little confusion here (though I could be wrong) Amadeaus are you talking Street magic as us older guys would think of it perfroming an act out in the street or Street magic as termed by David Blaine which actualy is Strolling magic? Phillip |
