Find some video tapes of Doug Henning's TV shows from the 70's and sit back and enjoy! This is what Doug was all about - discovering and enjoying the wonder.

Honestly, I try to slow WAY down when performing each trick. This puts the focus on the wonder, the astonishment.

When I slow the magic down I can really engage the people and create magic between us.

I do have this problem every now and then, but slowing it way down and recapturing the moment helps. And when you get that spectator to look at you in wonder, it will only spur you on right?

Just think about what they see and believe in your own magic as if it wasn't a trick at all. Feel it as if it were so and you'll be amazed along WITH your audience.

This is exactly why I don't want to learn the first thing about stage magic. (I'm a close up guy.) I had the chance to see David Copperfield about 6 months ago, and I was happy to be blown away. It was great to just be entertained, and not know how it was done. So, yeah, that's my way of recapturing the wonder: watching a big show like David Copperfield. I think that guy might really be magic! Smile

Why doesn't it tickle when I tickle myself, but it still hurts when I stick a fork in my eye?
