Greetings,
I usually perform a 45-60 minute kid's show. Although the show has no moral or point to it, it is sort of a story within itself and has a beginning a middle and an end. I came up with it on my own and it has been very succesful for me. I found I can alternate the props within it and still keep the same flow and story-line. Proof that the tricks don't matter! Anyway, I am about to obtain a regular performance venue where my shows will be only 20 minutes, not 45 minutes. Please give me your valued opinions, do you think trying to maintain a story line in only a 20 minute show will be needed, possible, cumbersome, difficult, warranted? Should I just have FUN with them and forget the story lines? I likely will try it both ways and see which way I prefer but I still would like to hear from you. thank you, aaron |

Please give us more information. What age group? Daycare crowds do well with Story lines.
Dependent on the venue crowd, the story line could be appropriate and keep the show to a theme with a consistant story line.

Your theme is Birthday parties. Your story line could be making the bday child a magician. Or finding the rabbit. 20 minutes goes by fast! I think I would just keep with the Theme, have fun and celebrate the occasion.
Nothing of the same will bring any change, take action today!

Make the birthday child the center of the show and if you're gonna tell a story make it related to a birthday party/celebrant. if you want to perform good effects but fast use appearing/vanishing canes and candles and use it for example for the birthday celebrant to blow the candle then you vanish it.
thanks!

20 minutes is a very short time?
Check out Developing A Birthday Party Busines Plan There is a lot of good information there. If you want to do 3 shows a day, then you need to reset fast, and pack somewhat small. The Birthday Party Business book is a very good start.
