I am looking to put a paycheck prediction in my show as the finale. In effect, I want to be able to have 3 envelopes, 2 are empty and one holds my check for the show. I want the audience to decide which envelope I get and that will be my envelope. In essence, the envelope they choose for me is the one with the check in it. I know Luke Jermay has an effect like this and most likely others do. Could someone point me in the right direction? Book, DVD, etc. Also, I don't want to use the magicians choice force.

Why not just use a bank night style presentation?

Exactly, a good solid bank night concept like that one could so easily be reworked for your presentation...

Craig Karges has a finale exactly like you describe using a bank night type presentation in his book The Craig Karges Connection. The effect is titled Check Burning and it was originally published in Bascam Jones' Magick #265 as Check Mate.

Not sure about the presentation that you have chosen but Osterlinds bank night is the obvious choice.

Excuse my ignorance, but what is the effect for Bank Night? I have never seen the effect performed. I've tried to save my stupidity by looking on the web for an effect, but no avail.

Jl17,
The bare bones of the effect is that something of value is contained in one of a number of envelopes. Spectators are allowed to choose envelopes until only one remains for the performer. The performer ends up with the envelope that contains the object (often money). -Feral |
