Hi everyone,
I am in this program called Junior Achievement, and what we are trying to do is market a product or service to sell to people. Eventually this product will be sold in a mall and we need a low-budget booth to market our product. What are some crazy ideas that would make our booth stand out from everyone else's? Make it taller and more colorful than any other booths.
Sizable helium blimp with flashing lights. |

Perform magic for passersby to help spotlight and sell the product or service.

Hmmm....
the magic sound's like a good idea, strong, visual stuff. But it may also take away from the product if they just visit for the magic. Also make sure the person or people working there look approachable, if not, you have a problem. Ok so it turns out I can only think of the obvious stuff, darn it. ollie |

I remember JA very well. And I rememebr selling those Tic-Tac-Toe boards in the mall. Ugh!!
Maybe have a "give away" at the booth. Have some sort of a prize, like a mini color television, and have people fill out a slip with their information on it. No purchase necessary. That will bring them into the booth. Have the prize on display and a fishbowl for the peoples slips, tell them the winner will be notified by telephone. When they come in to fill out the slips, that's when you sell em'. At the end of the day, of course, you simply throw all the slips away. The "prize" is never awarded. Giving things away cuts into the profit margins. Might as well learn these valuable "real work" business lessons early. That's what JA is all about! Good Luck!! Vandy

If you do magic, make sure the patter support/promote the product 100%. In the end, do a business card routine, and hand out business cards with your info and the products you are promoting.
Otherwise, get some Hooter's girls to stand ear the booth. That always draws attention. |

I loved Junior Acheivement, and it is a great learning enviornment. From their teachings, I started three corporations. If you want to make money, then working for someone usually doesn't do it. You need to be in business. so learn as much as you can. As for the Booth in a mall, generally there are some restrictions. However, having a booth is not near as important as getting the "passer-bys" to stop and take a look at what you are selling. Close-up magic an do that. The best item to sell is something that has a "high-precieved-need" for them. Even if you must create that need by the pitch you use. Remember who is your target market: Focus on that Market. If selling for Christmas pitch something that is a stocking stuffer. Who are you pitching to? The Mom, The Wife, The Child, The Girl Friend, or The Dad? Movement attacts the eye. Balloons, or something comical in the blow-up stuff. Even something simple as making balloon animals. This attracts the kids, and Mom has to wait. While she is waiting for the balloon animal, others can pitch the product. (FREE BALLOONs) is an attraction. Good luck and learn. Dennis PS... I sold lamps we made and we took a loss. Then we sold first-aid kits and we made money (Wal-Mart has a cheap $5.00 one that is 10 times better than the one we sold many years ago)
