Is it just me or does the U.S. make boring coins. I mean you'd think they'd put a little effort into making it more compelling so there'd be a little cool factor to using or collecting these. Sure this is only 1 out of 37, in theory, but the back side seems pretty bland to me.

I wish the U.S. gov would stop messing around with the money. All the new nickels and the state quartes look more then stupid.

Please note that the image in the link is just a possibility. The artwork for the upcoming dollar coins has not been finalized.

I happen to like the coin design in the link, but to each their own. I can't imagine coming up witha design which would please everyone. I'm more interested in the dimensions of the new dollar coins. Does anyone know how big the coins will be?

Magical Mystifier:
It should be the same size as the Sacajawea (which, believe it or not, is the same size as the old Susan B. Anthony). |

There's nothing quite like the dirty look you receive when you pay for something with a dollar coin.

About 3 weeks ago, the guy at the gas station actually gave me a Sacajawea dollar and a fifty cent piece with my change. I just looked at him and said "you gotta be kidding".
Hold the seeds. That's good.

As a proud former cook at Burger King, I've received the request "hold the seeds" more than once. We were able to support this request by giving the requester his sandwich with two bottom buns. Personally, I always request extra seeds so I can get two top buns for my sandwich.
To try to get back on topic: I always like to tip with $2 and dollar coins. Is this taboo? Oh well, looks like I didn't quite make it back on topic. Jake

.....while in Vancouver, I found it odd tipping and paying with those loonies & toonies ($1 & $2 coins), not to mention the "technicolor" paper bills and the staggering 14% Sales tax........ Oh Canada! Wonderful visit and ejoyed my stay!
