Consider:
Kong drastically changes size at least 3 times during the movie. A newbie to firearms shoots cat sized bugs off the 'hero' (give me a break) with a MACHINE GUN at fairly close range with out hitting the biggest target of all...his nose. The Canyon scene was about an hour and a half too long and very silly to even imagine those slow puny humans could run around the legs of stampeding 'saurs or that a light tap on the jaw from Jack (our pathetic puny 'hero' again) could drop a Raptor in full charge. This great monsterous ape...last of his kind of an unknown species was realized as no more than a large familiar Silver Back. About 35 more guys are killed than landed on the Island or were even on the ship! The Bats who lived in the cave suddenly decide THAT night to attack their cave mate Mr. K. after a thousands of years of co-habitation with the ape species. All dinosaurs are dull Grey. Fay...uh...Ann Darrow's character has no sence of smell...not only not reacting to Kongs breath as he roars in her face but the fact that Gorillas have the worst B.O. on the planet...(even worse reportedly than Peter Jackson who is known to skip his once weekly shower) The boring music. (except the Max Stiener reprise) The population of natives (must have been a huge population to light that cliff side up!) suddenly disappear in the later scenes. Jack Black really stinks as a dramatic actor (almost in the puke league with Cloony and Benefer) BUT Also consider the amazing beautiful CGI New York City. The spectacular choreography of the T-Rex Battle in the Vines (easily worth the whole admission price) Biggest let down from the original 30's film was the lack of crackerjack timing and pacing the first one had. But it was better than the 76 version...of course anything is...well almost. Three Stars for effort...2 star deduction for lack of editing, Jack Black and the arrogance to think we needed another Kong in the first place.

I like it, But it was to long. Another thing was they tried so hard to make things look real, that They ended up looking fake and hokie.

I have been a fan of this genre all my life. I watched it today, and was fairly disappointed in the movie. The special effects were great. But too many improbables, already mentioned above, ruined much of the credibility of the script. The guy playing Carl Denham was ok, but the role needed a bigger presence. He kind of reminded me of Nathan Lane, and I wondered what kind of success Mr. Lane might have had with the part. I found myself fast-forwarding through some of the slower parts.
Probably would have been a bit more impressed had I seen it in the theatre - but not much. Mark
My ex-cat was named "Muffin". "Vomit" would be a better name for her. AKA "The Evil Ball of Fur".

I remember when I saw "Mary Poppins" as a child, the whole sequence of Mr. Banks walking back to the bank left me cold because I was waiting for more fantasy. Seeing it again lately (at the age of 50) and having been fired more than once, I felt a little choked up at this guy having to walk back to work, knowing what was waiting for him. Nothing that happens in a movie is "real," that doesn't mean I can't get emotional over it.

I asked a friend who saw it how he liked the movie. He replied, "The special effects were amazing!" I asked how he liked the acting in the movie. He replied, "The special effects were amazing!" I asked him how he liked the plot as a whole. He replied, "The special effects were amazing!"
His mom raised him to only say nice things about anyone or anything. |

Not only were the special effects amazing but you really get your money's worth in screen time. I went in not knowing about this great value and became worried that they never would get to the Island before the movie ended.
