What are your thoughts on this? I am asking because in the video, buddy uses the camera to his advantage to end up clean. With this day and age of technology, and demo'ing tricks, does this upset you? I think for a promotional video its fine, but when you do it for a product you are selling, I think its shaky... any thoughts?

Wow, I just ordered this from Hank's. That makes me really upset because I assume when I watched the video that I can perform it and make it look the same. If that's not true its deceptive advertising in my opinion.

After watching the instructional DVD and the demo, each of the moves can be done as shown and it is possible to end clean in real time. He gains no particular advantage in the video that I can tell. But this will take some practice to routine it properly. This is an interesting prop and an excellent instructional DVD package. The criticism launched on the demo video is unfair and inaccruate. |

I was directed to watch one small portion of the demo again. I think I have a better understanding of what Eric is talking about. In all fairness I can see how someone could be critical of the camera angle during one move in the demo, as far as clean-up is concerned. To me it wasn't that significant to the overall effect or idea, but it may be to someone else who dissects it.
You can vanish a coin, show both hands empty, have it produced in the other hand, suddenly fan six coins with no false moves, have all but one vanish, then vanish that coin and end clean with a little practice. |

Rainbow Coins if definately awesome and you're correct, tdowell, you can do all the things that you mentioned! Also, there is no trick photography in the demo movie, everything that Alex Lourido does in the movie is taught by him on the DVD.
A magician isn't defined by how many tricks he knows, but how well he has mastered them!

The quality of the gimmick is also very good. The only negative thing I could eventhink to say is the part where Alex says to tell people you have six coins and they won't notice. Not true. Everybody notices. Very minor negative though. James

Agree. The DVD and the tricks inside will worth the money you paid. Just don't dream that you can instant do the tricks as the DVD. You need practice.

The one thing that some of you do not realize is that you cannot misdirect the still camera. It sees everything unless it's a handheld device moving about in the way the spectator's eyes would move.
It is quite easy to get away with simple misdirection, be it verbal or physical when working an effect for a real audience. The gaff used in this piece is not new, but the moves are put together in a very natural straight forward manner that works beautifully in front of people and take the gaff to a higher level. Those of you that perform coin magic and manipulation will appreciate the simplicity and very practical application of this piece. |

One question, can it only be done with specific coins like a US half Dollar or are the gimmick versatile? I assume it's specific made to US half dollars, or am I wrong?? I live in Denmark, where US half dollars is kind of "not normal".

No, I do think this is a nice looking effect and idea, but I am gathering that the vanish of the stack of "regular" coins from his hand is done by ditching off camera.
The one with the dollar bill is obviously as it would apppear to the audience, as is everything else, from what I can see, but it does look s if he used the camera to his advantage for that particular vanish. But it is not a bit that is part of the main effect being sold though, from what I can tell.

I've been playing with this for a while now, at the bar. Has anyone had any issues with spectators wondering why there wasn't any sound during the simple production phase? Once or twice spectators have tumbled to the method as a result of this logic.

Its a good effect and a lot of tricks taught in the DVD. Its a bargain for such price.
The gimmick it provided is made with US coins but you can easily make your own for any country coins. It is a well made DVD and the camera angle discussed above is not really the major part of the tricks |
