Sorry, I'm not from your neck of the magic woods, however a friend of mine, who is an excellent escape artist and lock/handcuff smith, will be releasing a line of Medieval escape restraints.
The one he let me in on so far is the torture thumb screw escape. We were wondering if there would be a use for such items in your area of the magic world? Thanks, Shawn

Shawn - Sounds frightfully interesting. For me the quality and price of the prop would make a difference in whether or not I'd include it in the act.

Any time is a good time to talk about the inquisition, in my book. And your friend's products sound lovely.
But I was wondeering: is his thumbscrew similar in style and quality to the thumbscrews at cannonsgreatescapes.com? (Their "Spanish Execution Manacle" looks quite nice, too. ) The Cannon's thumbscrews are priced at $99 (and the S.E.M., $180) -- how does your friend's wares compare? Please let me know. Thanks,

Hi guys sorry for the belated response.
I was waiting to see what the items looked like myself. For quality I would put the screws above par of my friends the Cannon's. Steve's are more to actual specs and does not use paint to give it that old look. He also released a Medieval padlock that looks great and would work well in shows. It is an 6 or 8 lever (don't remember off hand) padlock, medieval style, that can have the keyway welded closed with a metal plate and still be opened "mysteriously." Cool part is that it is 100% inspectable. Check them out for yourself [outdated link] Though he intends on a full line of medieval's I think he is going to wait and see how this stuff sells first.
