With all this interest in poker, particulary the internet variety. Is it possible that the standard for a poker deck (such as Bicycle 808's) will eventually be a four color deck?
If so, would you be in favor of such a change? why? If not, why not? Can you think of any nice magical effects that would benefit from a four color deck? Vandy

I'm not sure what you mean...
replcing the suits? there is bike deck, lo-vision, that uses color coding as well as suits: black red, green, blue (i think clubs are blue and diamonds are green...) I thought it ws really ugly, but I used to use em cause no one else did (maybe cause theyre ugly?)

Nordatrax,
Yes, replacing the suit color. Many online and computer poker games use a four color deck. Spades are black, Hearts are red, Diamonds are blue, and Clubs are green. This is done (I assume) because half the clods playing can't keep track of the suits and miss out on flushes etc. It's becoming very popular. I afraid that someday it may become the standard. Vandy

It may be nice if they became standard someday but I try to stay away from differnt decks like that for the simple reason that I don't feel like putting the nessary energy into proving that they are not gaffed cards. although it would be nice to keep one in a reg deck or four for that matter and then ask them to name one of the four colors and then do a color change. Man that would be badass. or at least untill everyone finds out that you can buy them at walmart. hehe
you can fool all of the people some of the time and some of the people all the time but never all of the people all the time.

The four colors help to determine if there's a possible flush on the table. Very helpful in a fast-paced environment. In real-world poker, things move much slower and you have more time to look at the suits. That said, I'd love to see decks in four colors. |

Can you actually buy these? I've never even heard of them but they sound cool. Anyone in Canada heard of these?

Bicycle cards are available in EZ Low Vision format, with black/red/green/blue ink. Of course, they use large symbols/numbers/letters as well.

I do not play online poker, and I have never seen anything like this. I think everyone would welcome the idea of such cards becoming commonplace (while still hoping regular bikes are commonplace). Different color changes!
