I haven't used a magnet from any of the special order sites. But, are they strong enough so that, if you kept a really strong grip at the base of a fork, they could potentially bend the fork?

I am not sure but I do not think that that would work. You could buy one and give it a try and if it works then that would be cool.
The only constant is change.

Maybe an electro magnetic magnet would work, like they use in construction and car wrecking companies. I think this would be to large to hide in you pocket.

STANGMX there are many spoon/fork bending effects - look on some on-line magic shops such as http://www.hocus-pocus.com - there are also many videos/dvds such as Chad Sanborn's dvd Mind Bender - but like wmhegbli said Maybe an electro magnetic magnet would work - like they use in construction and car wrecking companies - I'm sure you could find a good used one for a reasonable price - just make sure you have lots of back stage space - lol -

I once found a magnet that was strong enough to do this but I wasn't into metal bending at the time. I'm still not. I got rid of the magnet since it stuck so securely to the metal that it was almost impossible to get off.
Bottom Line....I know they're out there!

Something to bear in mind. Flatware, dinnerware, silverware, whatever you call it, is often made of Stainless Steel these days. Many Stainless alloys are not attracted by a magnet. Some are mildly attracted. You will need to check your materials.

The idea of keeping one (very strong magnet) at the base of a fork sounds reasonable, however, if it was strong enough to bend the fork- any yes, they do exist, though they are usually pretty big and bulky, you would NOT be able to hold the fork seperate from the magnet-(If you have never been pinched by two high power magnets, or even a single one with another metal object....you are lucky!) this would result in the fork joining the field and becoming "part of the magnet" so it would not quite "bend itself".
You would need to go to the effort of clamping or bolting the fork at one end, and then introduce the magnet, or electromagnet to the opposite end area. While this "could be done" the expense makes it easier to look into alternative means to accomplish the same thing. Kay (Ouch!!!, these thiings are how many gauss?) Tracy

Rare earth neodymium magnets are the strongest magnets in the world. No, they will NOT bend a fork. A fork can be bent using many other secret methods...

I don't think it is possible, but ifyou have really thin metal fork and huge electro magnet, then may-be ... neeh, still don't belive it

Hi!
A Strong magnet for use in fork bending seems like it could work, too many problems would arise one getting rid of magnet, removing it off the fork etc.,it really isn't the way to go on this. I Strongly suggest you check out Morgan Strebblers Liquid Metal DVD! An incredible fork Bending routine. Or for a shorter routine but a very good one,Chad Sanborn's dvd Mind Bender. Hope this helps you. joey |
