Aloha everyone!
I would like to get some feedback on "aerial fishing". I saw one called brian christophers aerial fishing on the hocus pocus web-site. I seen it performed once by Alan Shaxon and several times by Mac King. anyone familiar with this prop? Your help will be deeply appreciated. Wayne

The original Aeriel Fishing is a stage/parlour effect and (depending on the builder) produces about four or five fish. The magician places "bait" on the end of the line of a pole and swings the pole and an orange goldfish appears on the end of the line. The magician takes the fish off the line and drops it into a fishbowl where it can be seen swimming around. This is repeated a few more times. The fish are real and can be given away to children at the conclusion of the performance.
The Mac King prop is a "pocket fisherman" version of the classic effect which is designed for the stand-up or club performer that just needs to produce a single fish and drop it into a wine goblet, rather than transporting the full size cane pole, large fishbowl, and table. Hughes Magic will be producing a run of the classic stage version later this year. I think Owens may still make a version of this effect, I'm not sure. And then there is the Mac King "club version" that has been a hit with the stand-up performers. Cris |

I have talked with Richard extensively about the Aeriel Fishing he will be releasing. From our conversations I have concluded that it will be a real work of art, and a masterpiece like the rest of his products.

I've been trying to get some contact information for a magician I saw perform the Aerial Fishing back in 2001. I'm guessing the unit he has is a vintage unit he acquired from Walt Sheppard. It was incredibly impressive. I believe he lives up in the Dayton region, too.

Thanks for the response guys. It never ceases to amaze me about the knowledge base of the user's here at the Café. Are these models available yet? Hocus Pocus has one version for about $200 dollars. Anyone used it or has info on this particular effect?

Scott Penrose has a 'pocket' version out, which I believe hocus pocus sells. Cant say how it compares to other as this is the only version I have ever used, but it is fantastic. I use it all the time and it gets great reactions.

I still remeber my reaction after seeing Alan Shaxon and Mac King's versions. If I was Totally blown away, I'm sure that a lay audience will be totally fried. I hope that these great performers can get the great prop makers to build these fantastic mindblowing effects.
