I am interested in a silver/Brass(as in Chinese coin w/"hole") coin. Does this come with a C/S/B coin set? (I am interested in creating a S-B transformation that I saw Sankey do on his Magic Tricks Anyone Can Do (a Chinese coin is fairly shown on both sides, then tossed into the opposite hand, which when opened reveals a silver coin, followed by a few other C-B transformations, ending clean)). It was not explained, just filler, but then, I found the unexplained tricks on that video more interesting than the ones he taught )
I suppose I could put a [ over a chinese coin, but I would like to investigate this gaff first. Yes, I know the "hole" will present some issues in use and manufacturing, and yes I could do the desired effect with a C/S, and no, I don't want to pay a lot of money for this(so Lasson et.al. are probably not the route I would go) - I like the look of the chinese coins, and they are more visually different than the EP's, Thanks John

Vernon suggested doing exactly that, and there is always the chinatown half.

Thanks for the reminder of the China Town Half. I had written that down about the cth from another thread, and you were the author of that too! But what was Vernon suggesting? using a [ over the chinese coin? John

John, please remember these are open threads.
I recall seeing a discussion of this in another post on the Café not so long ago and would not be surprised if a search on "chinese coin vernon" turned it up pretty quickly. Hint, it involved a slip of foil.

Palmer Tilden, formerly of Sterling Creations, once made a Chinatown Half with a gaff that slid, so that the coin could be seen thru, if I remember correctly! Don't know how you would get one today...
John, Check out Bobo, the Chinatown 1/2, 1/4, or Dollar is a standard gaffed coin. there are some lovely routines for it. Don Alan used it as an intro to his "Lump of Coal" for years. Ken Allen made them back in the fifties. I'm sure you can find what you are looking for from one of the used magic dealers easily... Best, PSC

I use chinatown half with a flesh colored tiny piece of paper to put in. So, you can show the coin both sides on your hand. It will go unnoticed, even if shown fairly (more than a flash).

Paul: Thanks for the refernce to Bobo. His routine is "Chinatown DOLLAR Routine" - I need to work my way thru that book! It was also right before a coin on string routine that looks interesting.
Jon: Thanks, but I think the searh engine is malfunctioning, the search w/"all words" seemed to function as "any", so I was getting many threads with "Vernon" but not "China". Yet I did find a link from you on the topic. For now I will assume that Vernon was recommending the [ with a little something special depending on where the coin will be when shown. Does any one have some recommendations here on inter changing/use of these gaffs: I have e-] for a half, will that fit well with the Johnson Chinatown coin?, and whose regular chinese coin will fit well with a e-] ? (I will call up the Magic Warehouse, but I'm open to suggestions) John
