I have some questions.
I am a student from Taiwan and I love magic so much!!
I will be at Birmingham Alabama this March and April to be a exchange student.
Is there any busking show or magic event there or near there ?
Is there any magic shop or magic show I can see or is there any webside provide these informations ?

I am from Birmingham. Our nickname is the "Magic City".

There are a couple of buskers on here all of the time - Jim and Michael, that will surely give you more info. We have a very good IBM ring and a small but fun SAM group.

Guys,

There was a free act this year at the Wisconsin State Fair. He was doing street magic/busking type stuff. He wore a large top hat and said he was from Birmingham, AL(I believe.) Not Michael Baker. I've been meaning to ask if anyone knew who this guy was. He was pretty good.

Vandy, You have my curiosity up. I know of no other magician from here who dons a top hat. Can you tell me what he did? That may be a clue.

Michael, I wish I could really remember now. I should have posted when I first saw him. This was back in August.

As I recall he was a pretty tall guy, with a beard, moustache and glasses. He was working on a fairly small table maybe 18 x 18. I saw him do some coin work with some shells, and a coins to glass type effect. Maybe some copper silver transpo. He probably did some stuff with some silks. He may have even been doing some balloon twisting. I only watched him for a couple of minutes on two different occasions. Not very helpful I know.

Don Driver saw him as well, I'll ask what he remembers.

P.S. I am 99.9 percent sure he was from Alabama. And 85 percent sure it was Birmingham. But I don't know for sure.

I see from his site that he will be back next year. I also now remember that he wasn't wearing prescription glasses. He was wearing sunglasses.
