I love my drilled coins and much prefer them over Chinese coins...
I am interested to know your opinions on one over the other... For me... 1. A normal coin with a hole drilled in it switches the heat to the coin itself 2. Audience members play with the coin trying to find a switch to open/close them 3. More disgiuse and more unexpected and more time to ditch Chinese/total change in coin - heat is immediately on the switch/holdout hand??? Okay so there's a place for both - but how many have you got

I'm not sure why you would have drilled holes in to normal coins to begin with, what is the logic to it could you give more info,i understand chinese coins have holes in them and perhaps you could have the hole jump from one coin to another as in holey moley but can't understand why you would have a hole in a regular coin at the beginning of the routine.

Fake bank notes now they're making fake coins - but boy how they got these wrong
Here's possibly the most expensive washer in the world So I can tell which are my magic coins I subtly marked them Here's a quick way to make a washer - pass straw thro' specs closed hand Have you seen these new coins Dud coins that escaped the mint Whats' happened to quality control these days I asked to borrow a coin not a washer You've been short changed Ask to borrow some coins from spec - switch the hole - back in pocket - later ask for a washer... You've heard of mint with the hole - now the mints making them too - check this out.. 100's - just spend a few seconds and think about it The point is you borrow the coin in the first place... Chinese coins no longer have holes in them - and those supplied are usually so sub-standard/fake as to be laughable! And here's another beauty - using dimes - after switch and spec has holey coin you have their fixed coin - let them keep it as a souvenir - cost nothing and always will remember the magic....

It depends on what routine you are using.
If you want to do a coin penetration like cig./straw/pencil through coin, no doubt use your hole-drilled coin. But for routines where you would like to distinguish a coin from your US set, better use a chinese coin instead. There is however a way of presenting Chinese Charming Challenge in a post (and it is a nice way~) in which using hole-drilled coins makes sense. But for this particular routine I'd either use washers or chinese coins. As a Chinese myself I can tell you even if you bring out genuine Chinese coins in a Chinese community they'll be laughable. Coins with holes are no longer used in China (as far as I know).
It only takes a minute to learn how it is done, but takes a lifetime to learn how to do it.

That is my point - but the final question was how many of you use standard drilled coins - am I the only one and if you're not - why not make a few and try them out
But trust me - a UK £2 coin or half dollar with one or two holes in it is pretty and distinguishable Very - especially when you look through it or poke something through it... Even if you make only one - you can use it for blister effects very openly when holding what they assume is just a normal coin... Finally - its an opportunity to come up with some new routines/effects or twists on existing effects to revamp them... or even add a final kicker... What's the trick in Bobo where you place 2 coins on your knee - lay your hand over bottom pick up top and retension vanish - then pick up other... You can now add another phase using an in the hand switch but leave it in hand - open it and say hey I've been short changed! - Now repeat but this time as bobo... hey... now I've been robbed! or one phase just to introduce the holey coin... Hiding the hole is so easy that you can slowly openly place the coin into your hand - something you can't do with chinese or different coins... just a thought Holy Moly - Been asked via PM so I'll answer... I have added 2 new phases... to the basic handling... First is a simple in the specs hand straw thro' coin to create the coin. Second is a new coin I have with a hole offset from centre so I can drag the hole across the coin before pulling it off and putting it in specs hand...

Clarioneer,
What kind of drill bit did you use for your coins. I would like to make my own karate coin but have had no luck. The side the drill bit comes out of had a sharp lip that I could not get rid of. It looks very bad. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, -Buddy |

Got a friend to make mine up so done very professionally
Take your coins into a local machine shop/engineering company and ask nicely or pay a nominal sum - quick simple job for them Be careful not to spend them (as I have) and they'll last a lifetime...
