Ok guys I must admit I have trouble leaning from books even good ones. Since my interest has turned to coin magic I want to learn some real good stuff. What do I want?

You should take a look here:

Ammar's Complete Intro to Coin Magic is good for a beginner. Dan Watkins' Coin Man Walking has great routines if you're a little more advanced.

Coin Man Walking is the best coin dvd out there!
as far as fundamentals go, David Roths Expert Coin Magic Made Easy is hard to beat |

To start with, buy
- First Ammar's Complete Introduction to Coin Magic - Second David Roth's Expert Coin Magic Made Easy vol. 1-3 Believe me, you don't need ANYTHING ELSE to start with. When you're done with those (after a couple of months at least), consider the David Stone videos, and the other ones proposed above. Starting with Coin man walking (which I own and like a lot) or such DVDs is IMHO a very bad idea. That's for later... That's just my opinion. Phedon

Thanks for all the replies! I have the Coin Man Walking already and agree its a little ahead of me. Roth sure rises to the top of the list doesn't he? I will be attending The World Magic Seminar in Vegas next month. I wonder if Roth will be selling DVD's there? It would be nice to get them from the man himself. Too bad I won't be able to be there in time for the Coin Seminar on the 18th. But then agin it would be over my skill level at this point!

Roth really brought coin magic to the forefront of the magic community in the early days of magic on video.
Just think how much magic has changed with the advent of video instruction. Tannen's Stars of Magic video series gave magicians worldwide the opportunity not just to read, but to see and learn from Roth, Harris, Garcia, etc. Now being released on DVD. Wow! |

I would recommend the 2 volumes of David Stone Basic Coin Magic. You can even learn good body language and timing.

I remember not beeing able to decide wherther to get, Roth, Stone or Ammar. Ended up with Roth and never looked back! You can't go wrong with them. Buy all three, and you'll have enough practice material to last you a long time. If you are looking for a little more advanced routines, I'd get Revolutionary Coin Magic. And save the Coins Man Walking a few years.

I would go with Michael Ammar for the start. He is a great teacher. Next study Roth's dvds. Then you will be ready for Stone's. After you favor the previous, you will be on the level of Cummings' and Curtis Kam's.
Good luck, Dynamike |

Get "the Encyclopedia Of Coin Sleights" set.
Here's something I promise you'll never say to yourself: "Why'd I ever buy that d*mn Rubinstein* DVD?!" (*Note the spelling for Google searches. Dr. Rubinstein is also a VIP member of these forums. How freakin' cool IS this place, hey?) Regards, -jjg |

If you can get there... do get to the coin seminar. While SOME things may be beyond your reach at the moment, it helps to see the material done by those who invent and preserve it.
