Actualy, I do it because it's my job. You are right though, I would, and do, perform magic weather I get paid or not. I perform magic because people enjoy it, and I like to make people happy.

Grrrrr! Look 'sbays', I'm very wise so stop arguing with what I say.
I think in your case Slim it's because in a larger crowd we can either talk over the 'shouter' by use of a one liner and then move-on or even block him out completely with the volume of the PA system. But in the smaller crowd it can't be done. And if you get a proper 'eejit' you can't use intellect cos he just keeps coming at you, salivating and gleamy eyed. For me personally I just have to attack! comes from my stand-up days I suppose. I like it when they fall down and cry although I've never actually used physical violence. (witnesses and all that?)

I am not going to engage in childish banter with you Bobser. It is clear that your intent here is to rile things up. I will have no part of it.
Peace

Actually that's not true sbays. You say 'you've no intent to engage in childish banter' to the viewing public, but then go on to use threatening behaviour in a PM!
not very big and not very clever my friend. tut-tut.

Guys, surely if someone just wants to be an afficianado of our art we should be extremely gratefull that people feel we have such abilities to mystify them that they wish to learn the ins and outs.
A major problem in our art is exactly what has happened in this disscussion petty arguments between people that really ought not to matter! I have a freind who plays the chello to an unbelievable profficiencey (sorry cant spell today!) yet when I asked if he would play on an albulm I worte and recorded he declined, his reason? - His art is a very personal thing, at no point does he want to publically share it with anyone. Now I understand that perhaps no one is quite this emphatic about magic and mentalism but they do jus enjoy themselves in learning and knowing secrets, yet they don't need to get the adrenaline rush from performing, hobby's aren't always shared, when they are, we should appreciate it. Jx p.s. I hope that didn't come across as a rant!!
It is not the brains that matter most, but that which guides them -- the character, the heart, generous qualities and progressive ideas. Doystoyevsky
