I have started work on the Carney's Sponge Ball routine in "Carneycopia" based on the recommendation of my Café colleagues. I like it a lot thus far, but an aspect of the routine is the use of noise by loudly snapping the left fingers at different points. I appear to be "snapping impaired"--any of you found an alternative or am I out of luck?

Hi Flimnar:I am not "snapping impaired",but if I was,a sharp 'cluck' of the tongue against the roof of ones mouth produces almost the same sound..and timed right with the(quiet) finger snap..you should be in business.Try it.Best.

I'm not sure if this fits the routine or your style, but I've watched/heard Juan Tamariz use sounds when vanishing an object or making something appear. In one of his knife routines, for example, he has a series of rapid-fire color changes. He accents these with a coordinated series of sounds ... something like "tah, tah, tah, tah." This may read strange, but it has a musical quality to it that is pleasing and appealing. It might work for you. You can hear/see it on the Great Magic Library video (Stevens' emporium).

Snapping with a sponge in my hand sounds like WOOoF instead of SNAP.

I do't know the routine so this might be stupid from me. I use a table bell. I can pick up the bell and let it ring while I have a ball palmed.

Please can someone point me in the direction of a discription of Carneys 2 ball routine, I have been looking for a routine that uses only 2 balls for strolling for some time now.

Carney refers to Mike Skinner when it concerns sounds that indicate the "magic moment". You can do a lot of funny things with your mouth. Clicks, weezes, whistles plops etc. If this fits your style it can add very much to your magic.

I ususally do not employ squeakers, but a sponge ball routine production such as the one in Carney's book would probably suffice without sacrifice.
