I was really happy when Halloween was over and we were back to the normal graphics indicating new threads, etc.
Now it's Thanksgiving and we've got a new round of icons to decipher. I understand the "putting up some decorations" metaphor, but personally, I'd prefer to keep the standard icons and just have the "Happy Thanksgiving" or "Merry Christmas" graphic up top on the main page. The coffee mug icons are simple and clean, while some of the jack-o-lantern or cornucopia icons have been less intuitive. Just my opinion... your mileage may vary. JMT |

I usually pick related icons to replace the cups. With the jack-o-lanterns, for example, one had a face (red cup) and the other didn't (white cup). With the cornucopias, one has stuff in it (red cup) and the other is empty (white cup). The same pattern will be followed with any holiday icons that we put up here, if it's plain, it's the white cup (no new posts) and if it's fancy, it's the red cup (new posts). The Christmas ones will probably be a plain (white cup) and a decorated tree (red cup), unless I can think of something better. I hope this helps!

I like the change of icons too. Being an AOL user, the icons don't change properly anyway so to me, it's a nice change of pace

Bah humbug? Take it easy! I'm not trying to be a Scrooge here, nor was I trying to imply that you guys don't do a great job. I offered it as a constructive suggestion, from my perspective. I thought that was what this forum was for. My mistake.

That is what the forum is for, nobody implied otherwise. You don't care for the icons, and that's fine. We just happen to like them, no big deal. Have a great day Joe.

Joe, I was joking, but I offended you and I am truly sorry.

Hmmm... I thought this topic was locked, so I posted a note to you in the tech help area. I tried to reply to your PM but I'm getting an error.
I must have just taken it the wrong way. I saw a bunch of people pile on after your comment and tell you what a good job you all were doing... I felt like the consensus was that I was somehow criticizing your (plural) work. That was not my intent and I just felt like an honest suggestion was taken as me being grouchy, which was not my intent at all. There is no need for any apology... I'm cool. JMT |
