Obviously choosing the "best" ending for Recap is subjective--still important, but subjective. For me, I really like the ending Wilson uses in "On the Spot" much better than the ending in "Off the Cuff." When you are familiar with the routine, the pen from cap may seem obvious. However, when a spectator doesn't know what to expect and is now focusing on the performer's ear, having the pen slide out from nowhere is an excellent ending, in my opinion. However, if it doesn't feel right to you, I think it is difficult to sell, so finding an alternative makes perfect sense. Best of luck!

Once upon a time I performed a part of the routine with a blue plastic pic pen, and then finished by placing a red cap I've hidden on the blue pen. Seemed to work well.

I have an interesting ending that has worked for me. After the cap goes into your right ear, I hand the pen to my left hand, take out the cap with my right and insert it on the pen in my left. I put my right hand in my pocket casually, and make a joke. They laugh and I take out my hand which has my business card classic palmed. Here's where it gets tricky. I take the pen and cap (cap is on pen)in my palming hand, do a false transfer of the pen using a flip stick type method, and make it vanish from the left. My left shows itself empty and bends up so my left hand is behind my neck to present the left elbow. I produce the pen from the elbow with the right hand. I do this twice, and then on the third I really take the pen, stick it in my collar while my hand is up there, and produce by business card from my elbow as the end. Seems to work well to *cap* it off. No pun intended.
Hope it works for you. Ben |

I had an idea to make the pen disappear up my nose (or into ear). I bought a gimmicked ball point from Mike Powers, called PUN (pen up nose).

During the 4th phase when I show them the cap is behind my ear, I turn to the side to retrive the cap from my ear. I use this as misdirection to put the pen into my pocket on the left side. I put the two fists side by side horizontally and pretend to "breaK" the pen, and then it's shown to be gone. I show them it's not up my sleeves, where I ditch the cap into my armpit. So the finale is that the pen and the cap both disappeared while they were watching!
Something else I've been wanting to experiment with is a move in Sankey 45 where he "breaks" the pen and makes it disappear and appear in his armpit. I think I might add in into my routine soon near the beginning. what do you guys think? |

I cant remeber how the routine ended in Off the Cuff or On the Spot.Been a while I will have to go back and review them but I learned it from Greg at a house lecture years ago and he ended like this and I have been doing it like this ever sence.
After the cap vanishes and ends up in your ear and you turn to take it out you ditch the pen in your watch band.Turn and say now where sis the pen go and then reach behind someones ear adn say oh there it is behind your ear. and take it out of the watch band swivle it around and it feels to the spec that it is coming out from behind thier ear. Works for me. |

Hey all,
I normally end it after they find the pen cap in my ear -- at that point I may make it vanish, but I find after about 4 or so phases, people done watching the pen bounce around... Thanks, Matt |
