There must be many ways people use sympathetic magic and attempt telekenisis in everyday life. Go to a bowling alley and watch the body language after the ball is launched. Crap shooters' magic breath. Are there other instances?

Not really. It's as you say, mainly in bowling or craps.

So, apart from sacred and profane gestures, is that all there is?

Jack Lovechild (psychic K9) Try's to will the squirrels down from the trees, he also uses his mental powers to get some of your toast.

I had a cat once (Countess Maisie Bulgakov of Ribenia). Whilst snoozing one day I dreamt I was standing on a stool trying to wee into an eggcup on the floor (a tricky task), Maisie was sitting by the egg cup staring at me her eyes became huge and began to consume me, I awoke to find her sitting on my chest staring intently. It seems she wanted to get out of the room so she could go to the toilet.

Was I influenced by her intent?

I think you know that the kind of phenomena you suggest is prolific, perhaps too prolific to answer. It seems all creatures excercise their intent in the hope it will affect the external world.

We is ritualistic.

Um bongo

Nothing sacred or profane about Yaz's homer. He willed the ball to stay fair. See GOOD WILL HUNTING for a video ref.

It might be from a James Bond movie, but it would be one without Sean Connery so I've tried to block it out of my memory.

Happens all the time when people play computer/console games (very frequently in fact).

Also, in tennis, and other racquet and ball sports, when someone hits a shot they no is out, they often tilt their body to try and bring it back in.

Frisbee.

Carlton Fisk, surely?

You see it a lot in sports, both players and fans. Trying to "push" the ball over the goal line or into foul territory or whatever. How about bettors at a horse race "whipping" their horse home?

You also see it a lot in the bars just before closing time.
I've been known to do it when I notice a mistake in an email, just as I'm clicking on send.

Thanks for your responses, all patter fodder inspiration. I was taken by an earlier "magical gesture" thread and wondered how it could be enhanced into a spectator's participation and experience of such in making the magic happen.
