Kranzo's "Mugger" routine is great. I use it whenever I have the chance to. I use a coin purse when a cup's not handy.

However, if you use a different method for each single change or change them back to silver all at once then there will be less or no redundancy. The idea of vanishing the coins at end appeals to me because the coins can appear to lose value (metal wise) until there's nothing. I'm worked with a bagless purse frame routine where EG was used for production. Then I wanted to do a routine with those coins. One these routines also used EG and I realized that by repeating EG a couple of more times that spectators may actually catch on and that it could get boring. I also wanted the coins to disappear as they went into the purse and end. Again, at least to me, it was a matter of using different sleights again. I'm still not sure for this ending but have been exploring the options. Bill, good luck with the routine and the book you mentioned sounds good as well. Best to ya, |

RE:Hey everyone,
I was curious if anyone knew of this type of routine. I'm not talking about a single coin spellbound routine, or a fingertip spellbound change. I mean an actual routine that would involve 3 coins in a fan at the fingertips and would change 1 by 1 to another coin. The only such routine that I can think of is the fingertip wild coin sequence in Curtis Kam's Beijing Coins Across or The Goblet. Anyone else know of any other sources that I could research. I'm working on a routine for this and was looking for some sources. The thing is in my routine originally what I wanted to do is magically produce 3 silvers, change then to copper and then vanish them. I have an idea for the presentation as well, so it would make sense. I wonder if it'd be too much if I add the change back to silver phase before I vanish them? Bill, Are you forgetting my routine "Diminishing Returns "?. I produce three silvers, which immediately change to three coppers, then one at a time back to silvers, only to vanish, all at your fingertips. You'll be able to find it in Kainoa Harbottle's new book "Coinapalooza 2 International Deceptions" http://www.kainoaland.com Best, Joe

Diminishing returns completely slipped my mind, but now that you did mention, after seeing it a Magi-fest it is an awesome routine. I'm pretty sure that I told you that there too! Joe as for mine, think along the line of "3 Coins Outta Nowhere" and "3 Coins Hangin" only with a spellbound sequence in between and the first phase of "3 Coins Hangin" taken out. That's pretty much how I want it to look but just haven't gotten all the way there yet. TTYL man, Bill |

I'll second Corey's nod to Justin Hanes. When Justin showed me his handling for Wildcoin I loved it. Anyone who is not familiar with his magic is missing out. Here is a link to his Mystery Engineering notes:

Bill,
It sounds like you're really thinking this routine through from the spectator's POV. You're audiences will no doubt thank you for it. Like Corey and Nathan have mentioned, the routine I do is all in the hands and at the fingertips, and serves as the visual-middle to a more involved set of sequences that I use for tables and crowds. It gives the audience a chance to breathe before you slam down the hammer with the final vanish. Keep up the good work. Justin Hanes |

In the Encyclopedia of Coin Sleights DVD, there are a few fingertip spellbound changes, including one where a fan of three coins (silver, copper, silver), change to copeer, silver, copper, with a wave of the hand. On my 2004 lecture DVD, there is a change where the coin changes without rubbing the coin (the wave change). There are some nice sequences in the Twilight Zone Wild Coin Routine that appeared in Knockout Coin Magic and the 1986 lecture DVD.

Shoot Bill, my bad. I just checked the contents, and it didn't get into the set along with the 15 other moves on spellbound. It is written up in my second set of lecture notes, which are no longer available. I may just have to republish this one! I can assure you, it will appear on the next New York Coin Magic Seminar DVD set, which is already in the planning stages (and it will be even bigger than vol 1 - COINS ACROSS, available now!).
