You could predict the winner, the number of points he scores, or even the opening variation of the winner's final game. With a bit of assistance, you could put information on the card and pretend that you don't know what it means. For example, the winner will have a Tournament Performance rating (TPR). If it were, say, 2650 you could have this number on the card, and then ask the players what it means. As for the Knight's tour, most players would be impressed, but none would find it miraculous. Heys,I play chess a lot in my country and used to play for the national team for the age group.Have played against` some Asian GMs and IMs and have a good basic understanding of the game.In my opinion use David hoy`s book test principle or the book test by Al-Mann in devin`s glass box prediction manuscript for a chess book.I`m sure it`ll get great reactions.they are tons of chess books around which the covers can be taken off,try some by Bruce Pandolfini(Fireside publications),it works well.
The Glass box prediction can also be used at the closing ceremony, after the champion has been decided....Remember,it`s never easy fooling Grandmasters or even a FIDe rated player in the game they love so much. -David- |

As a chess player, I think you will have a good time with places envolpes at each table at the start of a game, and when the game is over, go over and open the envolpe and show the card inside, which naturally would have the predicted winner's name, will cause a bit of a stir.
There was a really good prediction bit based on world new a weekly rag here in the states, I want to say riggs put it out, yes it was Riggs it is called the procrastingating prognosticator, I have it in his psychic psurprises lecture notes, you could use old chess magaizines instead of world weekly news, would be good fun yea?? anyway hope that helps ya |
