I have ordered "Seriously Silly" the book and Silly Billy's "Silly Wand". I am anxiously awaiting the book!!! Anyway, I already have the break-away wand, and I don't like the feather-duster want.
What are some other fun gag wands that play good with kids? is the inflatable wand cool? Any advise appreciated! Mike

There's a bunch of gag wands listed on a recent post...
http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......7&40 When the kids realize they are holding a duster instead of a wand, I act surpised, and tell the helper to enjoy the party and stop trying to clean the house. This always gets a laugh from the adults. They like being dusted off too.

In this promo photo (from the top of the http://www.wolfmagic.com site) there is a giant wand with balloons (in the upper right corner). It looks like it must be a product but I cannot seem to find it on the products pages. Anyone have any insight?

Curt,
You can get the idea of what the Jumbo Balloon Wand does here: http://www.wolfsmagic.com/Balloon%20Wand%20Reviews.htm Unfortunately that's all I can find on it.
Magically yours,

From the looks of it, I think it's some sort of card in ballon. I maybe wrong.

Yes, the Giant wand is part ofthe trick. It's great, it plays well for older children and adults. I never used it for younger children because some are afraid of the load popping of the balloon

I use the 5 inch balloons with smileys on them available from your local balloon dealer. Very manageable pop. I use it in just about every show now.
I did a practice run at home when I first got the Jumbo Balloon Wand with the HUGE balloons that came with the JBW. Nearly blew my ear drums. Might work for a big stage, but I don't do many of those. As far as gag wands go: I made a feather duster wand when I was just starting out, and I use it to this day. It's one of the many silly wand gags that really gets the kids screaming. ( the way I do it -- blooming when I'm not looking ) Instructions on making it were from Marco Critelli's "Magico Comico Per Bambini" I think I made mine a bit different with red feathers on one side and Yellow feathers on the other side. |

But does Chance still make and sell the giant balloon wand? I think that was the question he does not have it listed as I have looked for it before too.

Email Chance and ask...if they're not currently in stock, he's probably (knowing him) working on a new run right now. I have one of the first he made, and it's wonderful for the right crowd! Still gotta love the "hand stand"...it's the thing that holds the wand. Looks like hands...get it...?

I think Chance has stopped production of his "Jumbo Balloon Wand". Which is a shame, since of all his creations (and it's one of his first), it has some of the most amazing mechanics, very appealing to collectors I imagine. As it's a card trick, you can't really use it for under 7s, and it does take a bit of setting up, as the wand has to be assembled from several parts. BUT, when kids see the prop, they can't wait to find out what it does, and it's a great effect. The wand is HUGE! If you want one, you'll have to find one second hand I think.
My favourite silly wand at the moment is the Wand to Snake from Derek Rutt (Siam Magic). I never let the kids handle the wand, as they will likely squish the spring in the snake, I simply allow the snake to appear as I'm handing the wand to a child, then "fight" with the snake, and "kill" it. After my break-away routine, I produce a Rubber Chicken.
So, instead of use a magic wand or magic words, I use my Chicken's screech sound when you squeeze it. It help me to ask for a different assistance every tick once “magic sound” is needed. Chickens are always funny. Original idea and always got a lot of laughs. |
