What is the spookiest version of the 7 Keys to Baldpate style effect on the market? I think I want to add that to the repitoire... but I don't want any old locks... a cool antique one would be best I figure....

A Hand of Glory can enable someone to open any lock with the proper incantations. Although my routine is not exactly a Baldpate one, I use an old, rusty warded lock that came from Morocco and a key that won't open it. However, under the influence of the Hand of Glory, a spectator can open the lock with the key.
I also do a Baldpate routine with a different lock: My objection to the Baldpate routine is that the spectator is frustrated by not being able to open the lock. I have turned this upside down. The lock secures an iron frame holding a Bible containing a deck of accursed tarot cards. The spectators do not want to select the key that will open the lock, leaving the key that opens it for me. (Obviously, I cannot use the Key-R-Rect lock for this.)

I'm thinking it's hollowed out like a book safe...although they would have to trust that it contains a tarot deck.

Just an FYI, Trickshop has a new Seven Keys eBook for $6.95, with Annemann's original effect and an updated, non-gaffed handling. It is really nice -- no extra keys and nothing gimmicked. Extremely clean. Of course, it only has the basic effect. Providing the "spooky" is up to you. But I recommend it.

Bill Fienning's wonderful adaptation of my Number of the Beast, which he calls "the Exorcism" (NOTB is one of my favorite routines, and is in Arcana of Bizarre Magick as well in a Hilford New Invocation magazine) adds a Baldpate presentation along with a number of other fantastic effects to NOTB to create an entire evening's entertainment. NOTB used a hollowed out Bible that holds a cursed Crowley Tarot pack at bay. Shortly after Bill shared his version with me, my own Number of the Beast has included a chain wrapped around a Bible kept in place by a Key-rect lock. In my presentation, the remaining keys that are not selected by the spectators end up bending or breaking, leaving the Chosen One's selection the only key.

The Bible (about 5" by 9" or so) is hollowed out to hold a Crowley tarot deck. In accordance with Jim Magus original concept, the books of Genesis and Revelation are mostly intact (because I must read from them).
At opening, I play this as a fundamentalist lay preacher who will do the exorcism. (At a convention last year, some people believed that I had flipped out and that I was serious.) The routine ends with my revealing that I am really in league with Satan, as I rip my (breakaway) shirt open to reveal "666" (The Number of the Beast) in blood as a stigmata on my chest. I do not recommend this routine for some audiences, and there are some of our friends who have never seen it.
