Since I have tried mnya sound systems through the years and also took Sound reinforcement in school, let me throw in my two cents worth.
Through the years I have tried and used about a dozen or more PA systems and have found pro's and con's with each one. I recently came across a unit that I saw a ventriloquist using during a school show for about 400 kids. I could hardly believe it but this little thing rocks. I had to have one and so I went and bought one right away and I could not be any happier. It's the MIPRO MA101 which can be found at http://www.wearefun.com Joe Lefler (known for his suticase tables) is a very honest and straighforward guy and also a friend. He sold me this little unti and even though most tech people are not going to believe me when I say it, it really does work in a large room. I've used it in numerous school shows with 350 kids at a time and was even asked if I could tuen it down. It comes with the built in receiver and a very nice and small mic. which is similar to a countyman. It is very small and weighs almost nothing. Get one if you can- you'll simply love it! |

Todd,
The MIPRO unit looks almost identical to the Fender P-10W. In fact it looks like one is a blatant rip-off of the other! How does the sound compare on the two units? James |

I actually did a little research and discovered that Avlex which is the company that makes the MIPRO unit also makes the FENDER version. They are the exact same unit only different colors. They are the exact same according to what I was told by several different resources.
Believe it or not I have used this little system in school shows for as many as 350 kids at a time and have never ever had a problem. The key is to make sure that it is up in the air. You simply screw it onto a mic. stand and that is it. A few months back I reviewed a system I bought by Amplivox called a PORTABLE BUDDY which I ended up sending back due to too many wireless mic. problems. I ended up buying the MIPRO system and could not be any happier. The thing I love most is the fact that it comes with a very nice and very tiny headset mic. that looks just like a COUNTRYMAN. I cannot say enough good things about the MIPRO MA101... |

John-
Just so you'll know- at under $280.00 you are NOT getting the one that comes with a wireless mic. built in unless you know of a source that sells them that cheap. With the built in wirless receiver and mic. you can expect to pay about $500.00 or so... |

Steve d-
I use this unit for my birthday partys and it is brilliant...It does as it says on the box and cannot be beaten for value . Portable and certainly loud enough for birthday partys of up to 30+ children .I connect my mp3 player to the unit to add music to my show , I am looking for an ipod eventually as my mp3 player at the moment restricts the distance I can move away from the pa system .I only have a 5 foot lead and would much prefer an air click remote for the ipod. The reason I mention this is because my only gripe about the system is the feed back when you are to close!!.You have to keep the volume pretty low or it will whine like a banshee!!But I am sure once I have the ipod and remote I can turn the sucker up and burst a few balloons. (GREAT UNIT FOR £100) |

Mine is the one with the wireless mic, yes I know it is an excellent price....which is why I jumped on it for $279. Not sure where you were seeing them for $500 Todd but most that I saw were selling for around $360.

Wow- that is a great deal! I paid right at $600.00 for mine but I have the MIPRO version which I am told is better than the Fender version. I also upgraded to a smaller wireless headset mic that looks like a Countryman and is skinned toned. I am using mine in a church group tonight for 350 kids. YES- it reaches that many people as long as it is on a mic. stand and up in the air it will work.
Highly recommended! |

I didn't see it with the head set mic, I just go with the regular cordless mic. I do some vent stuff in my act so I need the hand helds. I got it from musiciansadvocate on ebay for $264 + $8 shipping. I'll prob get a headset later but the budget is getting thin lately. Moving from kid's parties and house parties to real crowds is becoming a serious investment but the advice I get from you guys on here is saving me a lot of trial and error $$$! Does anyone know if any fender headset mic can be used with the p-10w?

Does anyone know if any fender headset mic can be used with the p-10w? Yes, it can if it is the same frequency. There are two versions (A and B, I think). You need to check the docking unit for your PD-150 and make sure you buy the correct version of the P-10W. For me, this was one of the big plus points of buying the two Fender units. By the way, I tried out my P-10W at a smaller school last week (200 kids) and was not happy with the sound. Personally, I don't think the smaller units are up to the job of filling a school gym or multipurpose room. I had it on a stand. Is there anything else you guys are doing to make your MIPRO/P-10W work for larger venues? Otherwise, I'm sticking with my PD-150 for schools and will use the P-10W for my smaller shows. Best, James |

I am actually going to be getting rid of my Mipro that I have been bragging about here. There is nothing wrong with it at all....I love the thing! I just scored a huge contract working with a lot of churches and I am going to need something with 2 speakers.
If anyone is interested, please PM me and I'll let you know more. |
