I just found out about this illusion. Looks like a real guillotine. The blade falls and then the person's head comes off!
A moment after the horror sets in, the person stands up--with his/her head. Sounds terrific. Anyone know about this? Where to get it, how about plans, how it plays, how portable it is? Thanks. Jim
Oh, my friend we're older but no wiser, for in our hearts the dreams are still the same...

There are a few different ways to construct the effect. All of them are somewhat dangerous, depending on which method is used. Hunt around for the safest version, and be sure the "victim" is on good terms with their chiropractor.

We used one when I was working for Paul Osborne at 6Flags over Texas. The "victim"was a professional stunt man and had a "gator" pad on so that he could perform up to 11 times a day!!!
To be honest it happens so fast that it's not that good an effect and no one will believe for even a moment that you've actually chopped someone's head off, and since that's the intended effect there is very little mystery. |
