I have seen the brass cups on several dealers websites ranging in price from $34 to $50.
Does Bazar de Magia make more than one set of brass cups or are the price fluctuations just capitalism at work? |

They also come as either a straight set or a combo set depending on which dealer. That would account for some price difference. I had to call a couple dealers till I found one with a combo. I believe I paid close to $50 for a combo set of copper about 6 months ago.

I love them and think that for $50.00 you are getting a great set .. I own the Brass ones....straight set..
I wish they were a little heavier but other than that ..... They are great for galloping post moves..... |

The MSRP (Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price) of the regular cups (brass or copper) is $40.00. The MSRP of the combo set is $45.00. Nobody says you have to charge MSRP for something. If you can get a set for $34, that's a decent price.
Price competition on the internet is fierce. This is one reason that I quit selling anything I could buy wholesale from the same sources that everyone else used. Some of these internet magic shops have no physical presence. They may be in business for a few months, then they may disappear into cyberspace. Usually, this happens when they discount heavily and do not take into account their operating expenses. I wouldn't pay more than MSRP for anything. But I would be very careful about sending a payment to anyone who was advertising extremely low prices. There was a magic shop in New York City a couple of years ago that took a lot of credit card payments and never delivered the goods. Their site was up six months after they closed their virtual doors. And they were still taking money, even though they had been reported here and elsewhere as the frauds they were. So, if you find a really good bargain on these cups, phone or e-mail the seller, ask if the cups are in stock, and then order them. Bazar typically sends a couple of big shipments to Murphy's every year, and that's when the cups come over.

Thanks for the info. I have only dealt with the major online dealers and the lowest price was from one of them (Don't know if I am supposed to mention their name but it is sorta like "Magic W******se". The cups are currently out of stock there though.
Bill makes an excellent point about "buyer beware". Actually, if I had a magic shop close by, I would give them my business. I remember fondly many wonderful hours spent in the Hollywood Magic store as a kid. I would drag my dad over there and test his patience while I looked at all the wonders for sale. When I was able to drive and go by myself, I was in heaven. You can't have that much fun online. It's still fun to me. |

Check eBay. The cups show up there quite frequently.
When I stocked the Bazar cups, I went through this situation with them being out of stock quite frequently.

I got my Bazar Cups off Ebay for around $30.00 plus. I put them away and forgot I had them! They are probably the best I have seen for such a low price. I got the regular set but they do make a chopped set as far as I know.

If your set is fairly recent, you can get a matching chop cup.
