I have some questions about readings.
1. Are there any MAGICIANS here that do readings? I ask because there seems to be an incredible amount of MENTALISTS in the US, and practically none in Sweden, and I have not yet come up with a good presentation of myself as a mentalist. 2. Do regular magic and readings mix at all? If you do a magic show, and then offer readings afterwards, does it confuse people? 2. It has been suggested that you can let people draw a pig or a tree, and do a reading based on that. While I myself like such methods, does the person being read really take it as a reading? Don't they take it as a personality test? Mikael |

Do NOT mix magic and readings!!!!!
Explain that the drawing is a psychological test that you use after your reading to help verify the accuracy of it. That tends to strengthen the impact of the reading. PSIncerely Yours, Paul Alberstat http://www.stores.ebay.ca/abstagecraft |

I know that Richard Webster put out a book on readings for magicians. I personally do not mix the two. It is my belief that the reading will not be taken as genuinely. In fact, I have entered into many debates over mixing magic and mentalism at all. Perhaps I am limiting myself, but I keep my role as a psychic entertainer as distant from anything to do with "traditional" magic as possible.

"If you do magic, than do NO READINGS PLEASE!!!" It is not my own experience that the 2 cannot be mixed. I am a reader by trade and rarely perform. About 3 years ago I did a comedy magic show in a home for the disabled. A difficult show to do in many ways but it was appreciated greatly by the audience. The key, I discovered, was to use the staff as helpers/volunteers. Anyway, I did a lot of standard magic and near the end did a couple of book tests. Despite all the comedy and the magic I was asked by several people if I did tarot readings on the strength of the book test. My opinion, for what it's worth, is that it's a personal choice but there is no reak reason why they can't be mixed. FYI Joe Riding used palm reading in his table-hopping for many years.
