My grandfather had a collection of autographs in a little blank book he would carry around in California and New York. I was only 12 when I first came across it. There were signatures from Marylin Monroe to... (Well I didn't recognize most of the names) But I did recognize one other... HARRY HOUDINI'S! I was so happy, I begged for it, but he would not give it to me... He said it was so valuable to him.
Well He died sadly, and I went to pick up some furniture and other stuff with my mom and I got the book! I was so happy.. I put it on my bookcase, so one day I could show it to my grandkids. I went away to summer camp last year and found that my mom had sold it at a garage sale for $10.00 It's so sad.

Nice mom. I guess you didn't put it somewhere safe.

Hi Daniel! Yikes! How awful I can understand how you feel. Wonder how much moms go for at garage sales? I've heard they are priceless. Maybe then with the money you can somehow get that book back. Just a thought. All joking aside I sympathize with you.

I know you could cry over it, but I can help but think about the person who bought it. Now that is a deal - an autograph of Harry Houdini for just $10. If you story wasn’t first person I would have thought it was an urban legend.

Very interesting story. Do you recall if there were any dates in the book? What year did you get it? and when was it sold? Curious minds would like to know

Wouldn't doubt that you would see it on ebay soon. That sucks for sure, not so much the autograph but that it was something from your grandfather....at least that is why I hope this saddens you.
