It's not a bad thing, Dean, so don't take my comment negatively ... it wasn't meant to be. Personally, I think we ALL need to be a little emotional, or enthusiastic, or we shouldn't be posting commentary here. |

Mark,
I was with you for some of your posts. But once you got to the negatives of your last post, something became very clear to me... Your glass is half empty. Listen - everybody - I put my info in. REAL, tested, knowledgeable info and reasoning for why 'I' don't care for Dave Dee any longer. Can ANYONE ELSE actually ADD something to this conversation from real experience? Here's an example of real experience when discussing Dave Dee's products...HAVE YOU PURCHASED & USED THEM? (if the answer is NO, then you probably do NOT need to be in this conversation.) This thread started because some "let us know" that Dave Dee was doing some sort of promo. To which Dave Welzman predicted, WITH 100% accuracy, that this would turn into, "another long chain of posts on the pros and cons of Dave dee." (iceman, you really should be a psychic entertainer bud!) THREE WHOLE PAGES now on the old tired "Dave Dee works." or "Dave Dee stinks." The whole beginning of the thread DID NOT WARRANT bickering back and forth. If you WEREN'T interested, or DON'T LIKE Dave Dee, or whatever...you DID NOT need to respond. Threads like this get out of control I think because there are those with NO VALID EXPERIENCE who are desperate to see their posts in the thread. They just want to 'HEAR' themselves talk. As For Dean's Emotion or "Emotionless" Attatchment... Perhaps saying he was answering with zero “emotional attachment”. was Dean choosing the wrong words. I think what he meant to say (hey, I understood, don't know why others didn't) was that he had "nothing vested in whether you PURCHASE Dave's products or not." It didn't mean Dean had no emotional attachment in the success and betterment of the people reading this. For goodness sake, knowing Deano, he won't be "emotionless" until his time is up! With that said... Robert

But, Robert, it's a mirror glass, so it's only half-full if you look at it from one side! The other side looks half-empty!
Besides, I don't think I posted negative comments ... I really wanted to know if he was successful as a magician, as I ever heard from anyone before other than the man himself. And, as I said before, differing opinion don't translate into negativity ... despite how it may come off, that's rarely my intention. Really. I'm the nicest guy in my skin. I'm like the Grinch at the end of the movie when his heart grows so big it breaks the X-ray screen. |

Yes, sure if anyone has a real question they should ask it. The question was answered wasn’t it? I see it as us just talking now with the side comments. I’m certainly not trying to be rude or offensive and hope no one takes it that way. I say everything with a smile, I promise. I’m not taking sides either way. Just talking that’s all.
Mark, I agree Michael Jordan failed at baseball. But don’t you think any of the younger athletes could learn a lot from Jordan regardless of what sport it was. Heck yeah they could learn a lot. Maybe even the real secrets to success. Many successful athletes make big money speaking to salespeople. I wonder why, athletes can’t sell. Again, I know nothing about Dee’s products. I just think if he has been successful with selling all his junk for all these years, surely someone could learn a little from him about selling a magic show. With that, I will step out. Unless Mark wants to talk more baseball. lol Dean, I love your looooong posts. Learn a little something from them all. Don’t let these guys talk you into shortening them, I wouldn’t know it was you. I agree with Tom
Deano from Reno, don't go changing Wow, we all strive to be distinct, some of us manage it by our costumes, our persona, our routines. And some by their passion and modes of communication. Dave Dee. He's a nice guy. I met him once. Bought some stuff. It works for certain markets. And it works if you work it. (Dave,, it does work in Australia, but not everywhere. There are plenty of people who use it all the time.) Half Full, Half Empty Trouble with this saying.. they never tell you what the glass is full of Timothy |

Here I go apologizing again...
Am I "passionate" (dare I say 'emotional') about success??? - - YOU BET Yer’ Sweet Bippy I am! Robert, (along with all the others who DO know me here...) whom I have known for years nailed it on the head. When I said; "I’m JUST answering the question with zero “emotional attachment”. No fights, no challenges, none of that." That is exactly what I meant... Maybe said in another way: (I wasn't saying anything to be "attacking or mean spirited".) I WAS, in fact JUST ANSWERING the question with out anything emotional attchment ("NEGATIVE INTENTION") by way of no fights, no challenges to anyone... as stated. Hope that helps a bit. MARK, we are good brother... just "discussing" communication. Like we know and I have said... I REEEEEEEALLY Do NOT Like This "Typing-Only" thing as the predominate form of communication. We all get tripped up in it... sorry again. Either way… No problem. I think it is always healthy to examine our "belief systems" (Our "B.S.", as it is referred to in the human development industry... REALLY, it IS, no joke! - HA!) and how it really has profound impact on our success. As a matter of fact, it is one of the MOST profound determining factors! What are we each willing to believe about our success? (Not someone else’s success or product as is the case with THIS thread and discussion.) – Hey some are waaaaay more successful at LOTS of things I am lousy at… I am not jealous or anything but happy for their success! – Sure, maybe I wish I was better at some things, but I’m not mad at anyone else for being better at it than I am. I see it as an opportunity to LEARN from others who ARE the best! KEY: Our “beliefs” determines our “behavior” and so goes our real success (or not) right there! Party on gang! I remain at your service and In HIS Service, Dean (Passionate, but not negative) Hankey <><

Timothy, when I drink from that half-empty glass, do *I* become full of it, too? Or is it already too late?
Here's my problem now: I enjoy this "straying" from the topic, as it allows me to get to know you guys better. But then we're "off topic" ... how about starting a thread called "let's gripe at each other, then use three more posts explaining ourselves so people don't think we're a**h***s"? |

Okay, I guess I feel compelled to chime in. Let me first say to Jerry, if he is still listening, thank you for providing us this opportunity. Next, I do own some Dave Dee products. I refer back to them from time to time. I do not think that some of his stuff fits who I am so I do not use it. Much like certain magic tricks, they are neat but they do not fit my persona so I do not use them. It does not mean that they are not good. A point I must make is this: if I buy a can of Spaghetti-os at the store and leave them on my shelf unopened how can I tell people they are good or not? Then if I blindly open the can, dump them in a bowl, and heat them in a microwave for ten minutes and try to eat them they will be nasty. Would it be okay to tell people that Spaghetti-os are nasty? Often we purchase things for a perceived need only to use them as we see fit and not as directed. Or we purchase things that do not fit our lifestyle. then, when they do not work we blame the product. Dave Dee has delivered on what he promises.Often we read more into it. If you do not care for his products then move on or tout those of somebody that has helped you. But please, do not make criticisms based on conjecture and half-truths. That serves no purpose. Also, somebody stated that a saleperson who was successful in one field could move to another and be successful and was rebutted. Just think of this, for a birthday party/school show magician from Georgia, Dave Dee is known world-wide. If that isn't good marketing then I do not know what is!?! I must also add that I am not a Dave Dee fan.

I just don't understand why this other fellow keeps telling me that he's in some guy's service. It's very confusing. Is this a military thing?

Whew...
What the heck just happened? I just spent almost a half hour reading these posts. Instead, I could have been applying "proven, sure-fire success principles" the whole time! Dave Dee isn't an idiot, Dean's not an idiot, ice isn't an idiot, no one here is an idiot... I'M AN IDIOT! Tim David P.S. Those last two lines are for comic relief purposes only...please no one take what I said as a personal offense, I meant no harm to any individual or to this thread as a whole. Honestly. ***steps off the eggshells...*** |

Shoot... here's all I know... I purchased info from both Dave Dee and Jim Snack, applied info I learned from both, sent a few hundred fliers to schools, and got calls to book 12 special holiday shows @ $300 each. These were calls from the flyer, and they BOUGHT the show on the first call TO ME! Of course when answered the phone I used techniques as well.
I'd say that was pretty good ROI. Paid my rent for a while when I was out of work (that horrible stuff I have to do between extended vacations and shows). And to me, that bottom line is all that matters. JN |

I just canceled my subscription after the 3 month trial. Nothing useful for me in the private board. Mostly it looks like it's aimed at those who have never used marketing before and rehashes the old ideas in a new format.
Which is what entreprenuership is all about. Biggest disappointment with this was there was not one thing on magic marketing, most of it was a focus on information marking. But if you need a good course is basic marketing, this may work for you. Your mileage may vary. |

It really comes down to taking the information and taking action upon yourself to use it, apply it and find out what works best for you. Not every course is for every body. However, I try and learn something from everything I read or obtain. There is always information there I can find useful.
I do not personally own any of Dave Dee's stuff but I have read some of it. I have used Jim Snack's materials, advice and tele-seminars all the time and have gained a tremendous amount of information from it. So much so that I can not put a price on just how much it has changed the way I look at things and conduct my magic business. the other gold mind for me has and always will be thedean.net. that is just such a wealth of great information and sharing on marketing that has just been simply amazing to me over the years. Here's my perspective.
I spent a few hours researching at my local library and discovered a world of marketing books and information that I get to take out for FREE! Any of these Dave Dee type courses are just reworking of marketing books already in existance, just adding the magic perspective. I have 3 books that, after reading them from the library, I went out and bought because of the material in them. Library - marketing books - FREE! What a deal!
