This is a performance only video though- correct? Not to say that one can't learn a great deal from watching a quality performer...

That is exactly the point. I learn much much more from a performance than I do from tricks.

I agree with you one hundred percent Frank, but does an explanation attached to an effect instantly demote it to the mere status of a "trick"? Clearly you must have some explanation-included dvds and videos that you have learned a lot from. I'm sorry, I'm not trying to be combative, I just wanted other readers out there to know that this tape is performance only.

I have tons of dvds with explainations. I just don't buy them much anymore.
if I do, I usually watch the performance part (if it's a real performance)
and if I see something I really like, I will watch the explaination.

if the dvd was a performance with attached explainations I certainly would not complain. and I'd love to get the insights on a particular effect. what works, what does not work, past reactions, etc.

so yes, this is performance only with discussion.

the explainations, by the way, are quite apparent to the student of magic,
with the exception of details which can be found in his books.

except the escape. I have no idea how to get out of a st-jacket but I have one idea how he did it. and I'm probably right.
