Hi Daniel: Where are you reading this from? You've started a new topic and I don't know where to go to help answer your question.

I think he read that from the main index page Dave, the description of this here forum.
I'm no expert but the zombie effect is that ball that floats behind a silk. I'm sure you've seen it Daniel, you just didn't know the name of it at the time.

So THATS what it is called. I saw a show on tv last night and was going to ask what trick this little 7 year old did on Lizzie McGuire. It looked impressive (Specially for his age).I know this is probably a really primative version but is it like when you make a dinner roll float under a cloth napkin? Using a fork?

its a similar idea daniel, but more elegant and usefull.. hehehehe.. basically, its a shiny metal ball that floats behind a silk called a fouldard, it can rise up to rest ontop of the silk, or even float up the arm, there are some great routines with it, and its not that expensive, compared to the reaction it can get!!! Infact, a story about it, i was doing a show with some other magicians i know in this area, and one of the other guys did a zombie routine with a strobelight in a dark room, and by the time he was done.. some of the younger kids almost ran from the room it was so scarry!!
hehe

Isn't that foulard? Not fouldard? I didn't know how to spell it that's why I wrote "silk".
There are also foul...silkless routines with a zombie ball. :subtrunk:

I don't use the zombie a lot personally. I like some other effects better.

If you want to know magic secrets, may I suggest your 1st book purchase be something like the Mark Wilson's Course in Magic. Then after you get a basic knowledge of magic, there is hundreds of books available for you to purchase as well as DVD's like http://www.llpub.com sells. They have a fine selection of advanced books as well. http://www.stevensmagic.com is a good source for books, DVD's and great magic also. Welcome to the Café! |

I don't know if I'd say he's asking for the exposure of a trick, since he's asking if it's "like" the dinner roll trick. Since the Zombie is a classic, well known effect, and the "dinner roll" trick is actually based on it, I doubt it's in bad form to say that, yes, it is like the dinner roll trick (in principle).
