How well is da2 adapted to table hopping? How much table space does it take, and then I assume you would then need a close-up pad. Just want to know if this is practical for me to use in the restuarant enviroment or is this better suited for a more formal close-up show? Thanks for any input, Chuck

I don't think so. Requires: Too much space, too much attention span.
If you find a few folks in a quite area maybe. Better suited for formal or getogethers. John |

To play it right, according to the instructions, and I havent tried it any other way, you need to spread the cards as you do the "reading" so a closeup pad is nice, or it can be spread on a linen table cloth. But the a full deck spread so that you cna read the cards does take some space.
The problem that I see in doing it table hopping, is that verbal interchange and dialog might be distracting to other tables, or at best might tip to them what is coming...so by the time you get to that table, they will know the significance of the Gypsy Envelope. I performed this recently in closeup at tables during a closeup show at a banquet, several of us rotated tables, but there were only threee tables and they were far enough apart that nobody got a hint of what was coming. If the other tables see the climax, it will take away the impact. The Doctor

I have some great experience with Deep Astonishment 1 and 2 in a table hopping situation. I have booked clients with this piece. You hve to play it right though. I work a lot of corperate banquets where indivdual companies and members book entire tables. When I arrive to perform, I ask the coordinator of the event to let me know if there are any tables that they want me to spend an extended amount of time at (ie VIPS). I then save this brilliant little piece of mentalism for the VIP tables. I perform this max -- three times a night when I play a room with 20 + tables.
You guys are spot on recomending this to not be performed for close-up table hopping. I don't think it is practical for every tabel, all of the time. Like I said above -- save it for the VIP tables where you stand a better chance at making a succesful business connection and securing future bookings...

Icy_rabbit,
Exactly! It can be done quite effectively at a table of people in a room full of tables, but where you don't intend to hit every table. But in a close restaurant type atmosphere, you would impinge on the other tables, and they can see and hear too much. Saving it for the Heavy hitters is a great strategy. That is what I also do. The impact is so dramatic, that it can make a reputation for you. The Doctor

What's the difference with DA2?
Is it an entirely different handling, or the same kind of thing but with fortune teller cards? I quite fancy the idea of a more mentalism mystical vibe.. |
