Ok--we are on the verge of getting one. But we just spent $400 on a DYSOn Vacuum--yes it is the best ever!
Anyway--Please let me know if you feel the 360 is worth it's steep price. Also, how many games can I get that are NON-shootem up? Any advice? Ellen |

Vacuum SUCKS!!! Obviously, I have a 360 since the first day it came out. I absolutly love it. I just found out that you can connect your IPOD to it. As far as Shoot em up games? I don't know since I like those, but I also have Fight Night and Golf. I think you should. Also when the NEW PS3 comes out, now that is going to be Steep. Best of Luck.

I have the 360. The graphics are incredible. Call of Duty 2 is an incredible game. There is so much to do with the 360. You can watch DVD's/CD's/Games/hook to computer and so much more. If you have questions head on over to Xbox.com and check out there site. Their Forum is incredible. The 360 is worth every penny I spent on it, but if you can fork over another $400-800 get a High Definition television as well....

One thing to consider about the Xbox360 is it DOES support HDTV, so if you want to get the best mileage out of it you want an HDTV, if you don't already have one.
As far as the games on the Xbox360 you can see the reviews for the current games and previews for the soon to be released games here: http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/index.html You may also want to consider the alternatives: The Nintendo Revolution is rumored to come out around Thanksgiving and is also said to be substantially cheaper, so you may want to wait and see which system suits you better.Unfortunally their are currently no plans to support HDTV. You can see the latest news and info on it here: http://www.gamespot.com/rev/index.html The PS3 is most likely going to be the most expensive, but also the most powerful of the three. No word yet on when it's coming out (It's said it may not be out till next year). You can see what their is to see of the PS3 here: http://www.gamespot.com/ps3/index.html Happy Gaming. |

Kingdom Hearts II just came out for PS2, why would you need anything else?

Yeah don't buy it unless you got an HDTV if you don't its not anybetter than anything else.
There is no reason to buy it becsaue you cna play movies and plugg your ipod into it. for me I would rather just invest in a nice computer. you can do more with them and if you get a laptop you can take it with you.
you can fool all of the people some of the time and some of the people all the time but never all of the people all the time.

True--The 360 has HDTV support.
However, I have seen it on HDTV and on a normal 36" TV that was about 6 years old. While it was a tiny bit cripser on the HDTV, it still looked much better on the normal 36"er than the old xbox did and was a pretty amazing sight. I'm not going to tell you to buy it or not to. But if you do make the purchase, get the deluxe box version with all the goodies, I think you'll kick yourself later if you don't. |

360 has poor graphics for the hype in my opinion. The last xbox was horrible and the new one is horrible. Save your money until it drops down quite a bit.

Corey, If you don't have one don't respond. Just cause you may have seen one in a store doesn't meen you know all about it. I have a 360 and the graphics are incredible. It's definetly the next gen of consoles. Better than Xbox, better than PS2. The 360 looks pretty darn nice on a regular television, and looks so incredible on a HDTV which I have (Sharp Aquos 26" Flat Panel #LC-26D4U... Sears.com)

Yan, No need to flame. You don't know me. I have played extensivley with the 360, and its not that good. The games that have come out thus far are aweful. Even the people that write for gaming mags say its not worth the money. Microsoft rushed to get something out before the revolution and ps3. So the consumer pays for it. The only good thing about the 360 is that it is even easier to hack than the first xbox.

Ellen,
You need to figure out why you want the console to figure out if it's worth the price. Is it for the better graphics? Yes the graphics are better than the other consoles but you have to determine how valuable that is. If you've got a large HDTV then obviously it will be more important than if you don't. Of course, some Xbox games support 720p and some PS2 and game cube games support 480p so it's not like you can't play high rez games on the other consoles. It's just a given that the 360 games will support the higher resolution modes. Is that worth the price to you? I believe in purchasing a console for the games I want to play. The two most compelling titles I see out right now are Elder Scrolls and Call of Duty 2. Since I can play both on my PC I'm fine with waiting for something I really want to purchase a 360. If there's an exclusive 360 game that you want to play then you have to determine if that plus the better graphics is worth the price to you. One thing to bear in mind, games for the other consoles have dropped in price so while a game will be $60 for the 360 they will be $40 for the other consoles. It makes playing console games with worse graphics or playing games on the PC a little more attractive. Another thing worth knowing is that getting the premium bundle, which will cost another $100, is the only way to get backward compatability for your 360 with xbox games and use any of the other features that require a hard drive. Of course, you can always spend the $100 to purchase the hard drive later on but right now they are pretty scarce so most people I know with core systems can't upgrade them. Even if you upgrade the system with a drive not all games will be supported for backwards compatability. Before I get some fanboy flaming me I suppose that I should mention that I've had an xbox 360 on my desk at work for well over a year. It's one of the perks of programming video games. Yes, it's a faster system than the older ones and it can do pretty graphics but until someone releases an exclusive game for it that I'm really excited about I won't need one in my home. It looks like there will be two more consoles released before Christmas so I would wait and see what the options look like then unless you find a compelling reason to buy one now. Dave |

Thank you all for your opinions...I have a gamecube. I also have an apple g5, and a pc (evil). I love adventure games, don't like shootem ups, also have 2 younger kids and need a kids choice of games too.
Was interested in seeing FABLE (in xbox)...Though I am finally waiting for the new zelda ever to arrive for the GC. Thanks a bunch and I listening to all of your opinions Ellen |

Nintendo tend too stuff themselves up by hedging on a moral line, if that's what you want then good.
Xbox is a mule and many of its games reflect this bland market position they occupy. The price of the system is obscene, the price of the games vs content is verging on mcdonalds burger value vs nutrition. The PSIII doesn't exsist yet, but should provide the middle line between bland and just plain stupid. I still play my Dreamcast as it has many ARCADE GAMES. arcade games are designed to collect money, and as such the content is massive if the games are a touch short. Ellen, don't be tempted by a quick game fix, stick with your cube until the market is more stable.

If you want to see what a 360 is capible of, check into Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. It'll show you how awesome the 360's graphics capabilities are, and is a really good game in itself.
Oh, and Fable was cool, but very short. I was disappointed with it from all the pre-release hype it created.
