I have a bulk of white silks and would like to dye them. What dye is recommended for silk to get vivid, even color?
Thanks, Kregg

My wife Sydney dyes fiber all the time. She posted this a while back about dyeing stuff.
http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/searc......=4037406 Believe it or not, she uses Kool Aid to dye her fiber with since the colors are dye's anyway. Make sure it's unsweetend Kool-Aid. |

I'm looking for dye's by product name that have actually been used by our colleagues.
I've tried standard dye, but, with silk the color can set unevenly and I'd like to avoid that. Kregg

In the Rice book it is called a Basic Aniline Dye available from art stores during that time period. I will have to check it out.
Has anyone else used or found this type of dye? It specifically says to use a Basic vs. an Acid base. James Adamson http://www.seam2006.com

http://www.fabricmanipulation.com is great. I've picked up a few items from them, the egg bag and the ball holders are the best.
Thanks to all for your tips, Kregg

Thanks Lynetta.
I will see if the dyes are available locally if not then you have given me a source. Thanks again, James Adamson http://www.seam2006.com
