I just got back from Vegas and saw 4 shows.....
Jeff Hobson was outstanding as MC at the V Variety Show at the Aladin. The auditorium was just OK but the show was good. The next show was the World's Greatest Magic Show at the Grrek Isles Casino with Kozak, Losander, Joseph Gabriel, Roy Shank, The Majestix and Derek Roberts. Unfortunately, Kevin James was not there that week. This show was really good. Kozak is an excellent MC. Losander was incredible. The next night was The Amazing Johnathan at the Sahara. Ive seen the Comedy Central Special, but he is just simply hilarious. By far the best was the Penn & Teller Show at the Rio. They were by far the best entertainers. Tickets can be bought on the day of the event at a booth near the Aladin outside at half price (I cant remember the name of the company) Penn & Teller tickets are not usually not half off but if you buy something from their online store, they will send you a 25.00 off voucher in the mail. Also, you can get $10.00 off tickets if you are a total rewards member (costs nothing but you need coupon from pennandteller.com site) |

I also got back from Vegas. Here's what I found:
World's Greatest Magic- No Kevin James, Losander, or Majestics. The show didn't live up to my expectations. Lance Burton- Great full-scale illusion show. I saw both the 7:00 and 10:00 and thoroughly enjoyed the updated production. Highly recommended. Mac King- Hilarious! If you haven't seen King perform you need to. All his routines were motivated and well structured. Great comedy and interaction with the audience. I will look forward to going back to this show. It was easy to sit back and just laugh and enjoy the show. Chris Angel- I ran into Chris on the streets outside the Aladdin. He ended up levitating me, and he performed a lot of "tricks" for one of his next episodes. He looked pretty clean and well kept for the street image he needs to carry. He had almost perfect teeth (how's that for inside info?) Rick Thomas- Sadly Thomas was on vacation so I was unable to see him perform. I saw him three years ago and he was great. -MATT KAP

Mac King is one of the greatest deals for show price. Tickets are extremely inexpensive!

Mac King was awesome. I got free tickets if I bought a $7.00 drink. Rip-off on the drink, but it made an inexpensive show.

I am currently working on a five part Vegas chronicle/review of my recent trip to the city. The first part should be up later today, and each subsequent part should be up every day to every other day. I wanted to do the shows and restaurants justice, so I have been taking my time. I hope you enjoy it once it's up.

Matt,
That's great running into Criss Angel. I don't think he is trying to come off as a street performer. He is doing a TV show with low production cost and is trying to present magic to his audience with the idea that magic can be done anywhere, on any scale. Did you ask him when he's going to put his show back on the boards? I'd love to see his stage show. Kregg

Kregg,
Running into Chris Angel's performance was a nice surprise. He had quite a crowd of spectators and excitement around him. He didn't do any real tricks. I know he can perform magic, but he was just using cameras and volunteers to an extreme advantage. Nick, I will be looking forward to your reviews.

I just posted part one (day one) of my Vegas adventure. If you click the link in my signature, there is a link midway down my home page directing you to my reviews. The only thing is: I had such a positive experience with everything in Vegas that I'm afraid I don't come off as very critical, but there are still some interesting stories to be told.
Matt, if you or anyone has an idea for anything you'd like to see me do in future installments of my review/saga I am more than open to ideas. Nick Fox PS: Sorry if my grammar isn't the greatest in some of these, the only time I have to write them is around 4 am, so problems are bound to pop up. |

I just got back from Vegas early this morning.. (3:30 AM to be exact if you include the drive from Sacramento Airport to my home here in Redding...)
Anyway, I saw Rick Thomas perform at the Stardust at a 4 O'clock performance. He wasnt able to perform many of the larger illusions (such as Osmosis, Table of Death, and "Air-Adage" as you recall due to the size of the elevator lift on/in the stage ... The Tropicana allowed for more room I believe... Also Ricky (Rick's lead assistant) mentioned that a lot of equipment was still on its way back from Rick's recent travels to Japan. I was excited to see the "Gemini Cage" in action at the end of his bird act... It is so deceptive! He also performed his version of the Walter Blainey Levitation as you may remember on "Master's of Illusion" TV series. Other great effects were the motorcycle appearance, motocycle vanish/reappearance in a different location, floating girl, a card prediction effect, Lion's Bride, Fire Cage, and Million Dollar Production... He was very entertaining and kept the audience laughing all through the show; not-to-mention, he kept the show flowing in the right direction. I had the opportunity to meet up with Rick after the show and discuss a project we are envolved in with some friends I took to the show. Afterwards, we went out to where he loads the tiger up and took pictures with the cats. What you see on stage is the real deal! Rick is a great guy and knows how to entertain an audience... After all, he's been one of the most successful shows on the strip! If you get a chance to see "The Magic of Rick Thomas", do it!!! Here's a link to my photo album.. there are some pics from my trip as well as Rick and his cats: http://photobucket.com/albums/f369/gillesgalaxiesmagic/ Bryan Gilles |

We were in Las Vegas the 3rd week of March, and I talked up the Rick Thomas show to everyone, and got them to relent and go see it. When we get to the ticket counter, the lady says "I'm sorry but Rick is out of town until the 4th of April"! Just my typical luck...
Was going to go see Dirk Arthur the last day, but I got ill the night before and spent my last day in Las Vegas in the bathroom. |

Sorry for taking so long with the third part of my saga, but fear not, it is now online. I'd also like to thank those among you who were concerned that I had not posted anything...I am fine, just busy.
Enjoy, Nick Fox |

I figured I would return to this thread to let you guys know that the fourth part in my five part installment on my vegas trip is now online.
I've been taken longer than expected because I have been building a completely new website in order to give myself a more flexible, expandable website to develop the many sides of Fox Illusions. That takes up a lot of time, so I'm sorry for taking a while, but part five is coming soon... Nick Fox |
