This book has been around for a while but since I'm now revisiting my library, I was wondering if people had favorite tricks they still do from GTTH? I bought the book years ago but gave it short shrift as I didn't have or want to construct the gaffed cards. Subsequently, I have obtained most of the gaffed cards and am wondering which ones are the "workers".
BTW, recently been reading Don's book Paradox and I think it is great. It seems to have been overlooked pretty much and that's a shame. |

Do you know where I can get a copy? I know it sold out pretty quickly.

Did it? I got mine last year. I'll try to track down where I got it and report back.

Cards by Martin http://www.cardsbymartin.com/ can make most of the gaff's needed in GttH upon request, possible also the ones from Paradox.
Just ask him. Peo

Yeah Neil actually made a complete set of gaffs for me to go with GTTH. I think it ended up being cheaper than what Don was charging. I think Don asked $250 whereas if I remember correctly Neil charged me something under $150, though he didn't include some of the simpler, more standard gaffs. He did an excellent job.

My favourites from GttH are:
Long and Lean, page 29 The Multiple Eidectic Change, page 37 Plastic Lady I, page 43 Plastic Lady II, page 49 About Face Zig-Zag I, page 53 Holy Point of Arrival I, page 70 Holy Point of Arrival II, page 73 At the time I had the book (1996), I didn't know about Cards by Martin, so I made the gaff's myself. Some was easy to do, and a few took some time to make. Peo

As a sidenote, Don England was inspired by the late Brother John Hamman, who during his lifetime floored many magicians with his gaffed effects. One of his most famous is Final Aces, which puzzled Le Paul when he saw it. Gaffed cards was not very common those days.
For more info of all the gaffed effects Hamman made, read Secrets of Brother John Hamman, by Richard Kaufman, if you are lucky to get a copy as it's long OOP. To get the cards needed, contact Houdini's Magic: http://www.houdini.com/home.cfm?Featured=Yes Peo

I'm one of the lucky ones and I have it. Peo, thanks for the recommends- I've had GTTH for a long time, but only now have decided to take a closer look. Probably stimulated by Paradox which as I said is very good.

My favourite is Double Crossed! which made me dug up Harry Lorayne's Quantum Leaps again, it's an linking card effect which is really good as well as comercial. Peo

I very fond of the mirror effects and the effects with cards changing sizes of which there are a couple of variants. He also has an interesting solution to the two card transposition that is nice. Sorry I don't remember the names since I don't have the book with me. His stuff is visual and well thought out. He has given careful consideration in the cleanup phases which is important to me when using gaffs. Some of Paul Harris' published tricks in his early books sorta skimped on the cleanup details. it left you to wonder what *he* did with the gaffed card with everybody around dying to see it. Bizarre Shrink is one trick like that that comes to mind.
