This appears to me to be potentially a great impromtu routine. My problem is that I am having trouble with the "wafers" - I find it very difficult to get the moisture retention right (they dry out quickly and fall off unpredictably).
Has anyone else toyed with this routine, or has any useful comments? It's not something that I have ever seen mentioned by anyone, apart from Bobo that is. Thanks Bob |

Bob, I was interested n this, as well. However, I have yet to meet or talk to anyone who has ever seen it in action. I have spoken to a few people who tried it, but no longer do it.
You might want to drop by Whit Hayden's Scoundrel's Forum. I started a thread about this over there, and got a few answers. The moisture thing is one problem. The other is that the coins have to be identical or else the scam will be evident at the outset.

Thanks, I have learnt 2 things: 1) someone else has actually considered this routine, and 2) the existence of the S4S forum (I shall review it daily along with MC). I knew I had read about this scam somewhere and was convinced that I had seen it on the net regarding cons in Spain, but couldn't relocate it. Then browsing through MCM I spotted where I must have seen it. I have only practised it with old English pennies (good contrast - white newspaper v brown coin). There may be other adhesive-moisturisers that can work but that would seem to lessen the impromptu part. |
