L&L Publishing is giving away a free DVD of Alan Alan's Dual Control with every order. I've never heard of Dual Control. The clip they show looks kinda old.

I would also like to know about this... but as its free, I'm tempted to just buy a deck of bikes and get my free dvd to find out

I remember Dual Control from 30 years ago. It uses a clever device and is the starting point for many impromptu rising card effects.
I always liked the original effect of having the pencil stick to your fingers while indeed showing the palm of your hand. |

No I think it is Alan Alan and not Alan and Alan. He used to work in his London shop many years ago

If you have vol 7 of Tarbell you can find Dual Control there. I would expect the DVD to have a little more than the brief descriptions in the tricks in Tarbell, but the basic idea will be the same.

I just saw it in the llpub newsletter.
I'm curious about this too. |

It's not only in Tarbell 7, it's also in Volume 1 of Ganson's Art of Close-Up Magic.
Unless there's something new on that DVD, be aware that "dual control" requires a jacket. --josh |

Hi,
So I am assuming that the DVD itself won't work? Do you need extra material or construct a gimmick for this effect? Thanks Phil |

Phil,
From L&L's description: "It's a powerful and time-tested apparatus that is simple to assemble with easily-obtainable materials. What's more, it's totally invisible when not in use and virtually undetectable when it is. It's easy to deploy and just as simple to ring out of play." ... "Then, you'll learn the amazing secret behind it all as he, along with magic legend Patrick Page, teach you how to assemble your own Dual Control system." --Josh |

Oh I didn't read through the whole ad.
Thanks |

I just received the DVD. No complaints what so ever considering it was free. Patrick Page explains what you need and how to put everything together. Alan Alan (whats with the death stare?) performs and explains the routines. Very easy to do. The cost for the material is under $5.
Good DVD |
