It's strengths! Had me stumped for a second there, but then I figured out I could add an 's' to the end of strength to make it 9.

Hmmm, I thought the longest one sylable word was the one uttered most often immediatley following a good swing of a hammer;

The longest word in the english language is pneumonoultramiscroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis which is a form of silicosis. Also a 9 letter word with 1 syllable is screeched.
