Take a silver dollar, break it in "halves", then meld the two halves back together - anyone got a handling?

Interesting question
Yup... thanks to Sawa and then to Roth's Deep Palm Tenkai Pennies handling.
...to all the coins I've dropped here

Hi Paul,
When you say halves you mean a real dollar broken in half. Not half dollars? Just curious. All the best, Kranzo

Nate, I think he meant half dollars since he put "halves" in quotes.
Paul, I have a very straighforward handling aptly called, "Breaking a Dollar" on my DVD Coin Man Walking. It is exactly as you wrote, take a silver dollar, break it in "halves", then meld them back together, end of trick. It's not the best view, but you can catch the dollar breaking into two half dollars on THIS demo clip when the narrator says "The only thing better would be to fly Dan to your house for a personal lesson." |

Mike Gallo has a couple of very good methods for this.
All the best, Kranzo

I got one for ya, Paul. Same effect, but it starts with the new, smaller gold dollar. You still "tear" it into two larger silver half dollars. It starts clean, as in "Much From Little" Bobo's NMCM p.80 and ends very clean (can you say Scotch and Soda?)
Bill Duncan's got one in the works as well, you tear the dollar into two halves, and then bring about a theatrically satisfying ending without going back to the dollar. Instead, he makes two "impossible objects".

All nice stuff! Maybe we should move this to Secret Sessions and discuss methods?
I have several handlings, using Purse Palm, Deep Back Clip, an idea of Malini's that incorporates sound, etc. It seems like a trick that could be used in conjunction with others, like "Milliken's Transposition", for instance. Borrow some quarters, then change a dollar to halves, do the Transpo, meld things back, etc. Lots of possibilities, just wondering what other people have done... Best, PSC
