nest of boxes Mental epic Sucker egg trick newspaper tear snowing Gypsy thread Audience Dismember Audience levi Kid shoe Illusion from Jim Steinmeyer "much better than the Wiz cote deal" Close up magic with a camera..... Matrix Bill in lemon Hospitality.... Just teach a stage hand before the show to do the trey. Note: doing a one man Illusion show can become very boring. Be careful to have your ups and downs and the highs and lows. It normally still takes a few stage hands to do a good show so when I must do a smaller show for a one nighter I just use girl stage hands so I can do some great magic with them. Just my take, Taylor

I have several one man illusions but my favorite now is the barstool levitation. I levitate myself on it. It's fun to use.

How about "Houdini's Rope", from Jim Steinmeyer's Device and Illusion. Jim's awesome routine is worth way more than the price of the book. It's out of print, unfortunately, but I have a few copies, and if you get the prop through us, the book comes with the prop. http://www.richhillsillusionshop.com/houdinisrope.htm
The effect, if you're not familiar, is walking thru a 30 foot length of rope held by two audience members. Specatators can inspect the rope before and after the effect. This is a beautiful and little seen routine. Versions of this effect exist in many different configurations, but Jim's "Houdini's Rope" is pure magic.

I agree with you Rich, I always though Houdini's Rope was brillant! And would use it , if I were working again, great for clubs dates, and large stage shows! Rai

Blaney's 3001 Suspension is what I use as a one man illusion.
http://www.procraftillusions.com/pro_suspension.php This is an alternative to the ladder suspension that works well with a member of the audience. See me in an early performance here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HMZGp2BXjR4 Notice the item behind the suspension? Jamie Salinas

If you had a big big budget then the Blaney Ladder Levitation is the way to go.But the 3001 Suspension is also very good at a much lower cost.I think a good Levitation/Suspension is hard to beat & these are 2 of the best..I would also look at in no particular order
- Audience Acupuncture - Hospitality - Relic of the Revenant - Houdini's Rope - The Devil's Reflection - Master of Illusions - Andrew Mayne's A-Frame - Thru Steel Plate - Smoky Mountain Magic - The Web - Dancing Handkerchief - Floating Rose - Trisection from Wellington Enterprises - Dream Prediction |

The Torn and Restored Newspaper is always a killer when performer right.
When you compare the reactions it recieves to the money you pay to learn it and set it up, it is one of the greatest small illusions of all time.

I agree that the Torn and Restorn Newspaper is great..... They have the new one called News flash that is the best I've ever seen... But you must be a rocket scientist to figure out all of the folds etc....
