Beretta is very great performer. I agree.
I like his manipulation act, 'cause it's coumbined movement, dance, plus the music tempo is different. |

I thought he was very skilfull, and smooth, card wise however, there were some major downpoints. Firstly, I thought he came off as slightly arrogant. I appreciate that this is partially mean and is in charachter but I didn't like it. I found it a bit too cheesy. Another thing, I felt was that his actual manipulations did borrow from slightly from Norbert Ferre, I certainly could detect his influence.

Warning: Do not watch this clip with tea in the UK.

Listen to the music - there is nothing humble about it. Why should he be anything but festive, expressive, dramatic, and yes, even "arrogant"? Upon revisiting this topic and watching Vanel again, I found I still enjoy it. Some felt he was a bit arrogant and moves not as smooth as another but he still is Vanel and brings his own style to the table. If it floats his boat, he probably has more women than he can handle. Hahaha. Great effort. |

It bothers me when I see clips of manipulators using the Tenkai production so much. First of all, they almost never make any mime to make the card appear to come out of the air. Secondly, the hands are in a somewhat unnatural position the whole time and you can practically see the cards coming out of the p***. Some of this performance was magical, but most of it was "look what I can do."

Joel, I've seen the same every time I saw the production used. A few years ago, I set out to invest as much time needed to "perfect" it and make it look as natural as possible. I dropped it after a couple of years, as I couldn't make it look even half way natural.

That is just the point. Any move that you learn and any move that you apply and place into your act needs to be invisible to the audience. The only person who is ever supposed to know that you are doing Tenaki, is you, yourself. If you study your moves, perfect them and then apply them to the act, then they should be used to work magic and make the magic entertaining. If the move is not invisible, then it does not belong in the act in the first place. Audiences want to be entertained with what you are performing, use your moves as tools in which to make this happen.

Kyle, Is that jacket red or pink? I use more than one monitor and it seems to change colors?

Just kidding ya
You know, some lessons are learned the hard way as I did when I wore a pink jacket while using the magenta colored Fakinis. They had a tendency to blend in with the jacket and for the entire billiard ball routine they thought I was just admiring and touching the jacket. Ugh..... So I changed to white billiard balls. Now I just wait for the PMs "Did you really wear a pink jacket!?!?!?" No! Not really I tell them. But I do offer them a custom white jacket and pink billiard balls. |

Hehehe man, that must have been a fun act to watch Randy. =)hehe, I wanted a jacket that was different and unique as I wanted to stand out from the crowd when I am performing. The red jacket is custom made for me a long time ago and really works well with my overall look. I get many folks remembering me just from my jacket and my shoes. lol
