Just received my Jim Sommers chair suspension from Klamm. Does anyone else find that the anchor board shifts left and right when you put some weight on it? Is that normal? How do you prevent this from being a safety issue?
Thanks in advance. -Todd

Greetigns, I have one of these by Sommers too....
My does the same thing if I push down on it with my hands... But when someone is on there is does not do such..... If interested I can give you a few pointers on this via pvt/voice call.... I discover a few key handling points to make this over all effect awesome.... Cheers Curtis

Sommers is a great guy .. but this one is not one of my favorites. I've used an Abbott's Chair Suspension for over 15 years .. with no problems. Sure it may look a bit strange .. but the kid is safe as could be. Bill Smith also builds a heavy duty version of this same illusion .. and it's worth every penny.
I think a childs safety is the most important thing to consider in this situation. Steve |

You may also want to consider having an assistant present when you perform this. I had this trick briefly in my show. On occasion a child will get scared or nervous while floating. Especially when the board sags after you have removed the chair. It is not uncommon at that point for the child to try and sit up or get down. In such an instance, someone has to be close by to make sure the child stays calm, doesn't move or gets off safely. Either way the trick is over at that point and you move on. In the end I decided to ere on the side of caution and only present this whith my assistant/daughter floating. |

All,
I think we look and make the smal things to big. My board does too but no one notices but me. Patrick |

I actually used to use a Mak version, to which I glued corkboard to the underside of the anchor board so that there was no give left or right. I guess I'll need to do the same with my Sommers suspension.
