Years ago, I'd say in the early to mid 80's, I saw some show on TV where a guy did what I thought was a pretty cool act. The basic thing was...he came out on stage in a trench coat and carrying a briefcase, eventually he made his legs multiply till he had 4 and then pulled a full sized chainsaw out of the briefcase and proceded to cut of his legs 1 by 1.....for the finish he stood up abruptly and ended up being very very tall, like 15 feet in the air before quickly coming back down to normal size. Does anyone remember this and if so do you remember who it was? I have been trying to find some video of this forever, but I cant remember who it was or what show it was. Any clues would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!! Also, I just remembered...it was set to the Peter Gunn theme. |

Yes I remember that show too. Great show.
I also remembering recording it and then having to watch it about a thousand times with my young granddaughter. Besides the legs, we loved the Hypo-Disc thing. What ever happened to Rudy Coby? Is he still around? To have a couple of great specials and then just disappear I couldn’t understand. Tom

He's moved into DJ'ing if I am to understand correctly. I guess he accomplished all he wanted in magic and decided it was time to conquer a new beast.

That entire tv special was great. If you recall, there was also a very young Kevin James doing his routine with the Charlie Chaplin character, Tina Lennert doing her janitorial mime, and I believe a finale of a young up and coming magician by the name of Lance Burton doing his floating bird cage routine.
If I recall, the only downside to that special was the host of it. He had to do several foolish parts including playing the part of a ghost at the Magic Castle. I read later that he did not want to do the silly stuff but in the end, had to in order to keep the job. All the best. |

Rudy Coby and Kevin James put together a show for me called Vaudeville 2000 and it was awesome. It was for the IBM Convention and I was the show producer. I have lost touch with Coby, but last word he was working with Marilyn Manson and on tour, but not as a performer.

I saw Rudy Coby on the Worlds Greatest Magicians at the Magic Castle special. I really like his creativity. He also had 2 specials on FOX. There are a few video's of him on http://www.youtube.com. I also found this clip of him not doing the act with the 4 four legs and the stretch but of him doing a cool version of the blammo box. I believe its from one of his FOX specials. http://www.komikerklubben.se/film/rudy3.mov the video takes a few minutes to load.

Yes, I have searched for some video of the 4 leg routine as well and can't find any. If anyone has it or knows where to get it I would love to see it again.
thanks |
