Hi Guys, I am working on a effect where I need to modify a Sidewalk Chalk. What I want to do is simple. I want it to be a lot more hard to break. In the best world, I want it to be solid like a wood pencil.
However, this key points are important for me. 1) I want the chalk to keep his color. 2) If someone take to chalk in his hand, he wouldnt feel the difference. I have thinking a lot about this since the last few weeks without comming with a answer. Any help would be really appreciate. thanks |

Does the chalk have to be able to write? ( sounds silly but you did'nt put that in the post)if not it is a lot easier!
find a wooden dowel the same size, paint it the color of the chalk you want then once that os dry spray glue it and scrape the real chlk over it with a knife or a wood rasp so when someone picks it up it will feel just like the piece of chalk!

No, it doesn't need to write.

It weill take a little while, but uf you use the recipie found online for making your own sidewalk chalk, (A TP tube core works as a good mold) and add a bit of Plaster of paris, with a dowl core, you should get what you want no problem.
The simplest way would be to rasp up a couple sticks of whazt you have now, add some plaster, and mix well, pour into the core, and insert dowl (about an inch shorter than the tube, so both ends are covered in plaster- you might stick a sewing pin into the bottom end as a stop point, pull the pin later.) Let dry and just smooth outhte spiral from the cardboard tube. k

Plaster of Paris can be found at most pharmacies. Or craft stores, or toy stores. Its quite easy to get hold of, nothing specialist. And its relatively cheap. Mark
