Hello,

I'm interested in purchasing a new reel, but am not up-to-date on the 'reel work' of who makes good quality reels and/or best value, etc.

Thoughts? Ideas? Recipes?

My best,
David

Contact http://www.stevensmagic.com if you are looking for a finger reel. There are many different types of reels, and depending on your use, depends on the type of reel used.

Do a search on the Café, or give more details.

A couple years ago, I saw an ad in Genii for Kirkendall reels. Evidently, the son of George Kirkendall was going to start making them again. They listed http://www.gkreels.com as the site address, but nothing has ever come of it.

I agree with William. Go to Steven's Magic, as they have several reels that look good. You can also go to http://www.owenmagic.com - I have one of their reels, and it's very good.

First, George had no children. He graduated from High school with my father, and his dad lived by my folks for years.

The guy that was going to restart the business never did anything with it. Several people have approached this guy to buy the remaining parts, but have gotten no where. A little bird told me that there may be a good alternative (reproduction) of the Kirkendall reel in about a year or so.

I plan to check out the Steven's reels next week at SAM and can report back after that.
