Okay, maybe this is silly, but as long as summer is here:
I'm lying on the beach in the hot sun, and I want to cool off in the ocean. Should I: a) Wait until I get hotter, so that the contrast between the water and my body is greater, and thus feel more cooled off? or b) Go in now, while my body is cooler, so that my body will get even cooler more quickly? If you "want to cool off", waiting to get hotter is not a solution.

Sometimes, when I get out of a hot tub, I let the air make me feel freezing so the pool doesn't when I jump in because of its contrast in temperature with the hot tub. I guess it kind of relates to this.
But, I guess you should get in the water quickly because you aren't going to get any cooler once you get used to the water, and you want to be cool as quickly as possible. |

If you are here in Northern California, you'll want to get in, freeze, and then get out and let the warmth revive you before the fog rolls in and freezes you again.

If you want to cool off in the ocean, cool off in the ocean!
