Eleazar Goodenough's latest effect, the Pop-Over Silk Dye, seems so simple that I can't believe no one ever thought of it before, yet I have researched all the literature and can find nothing exactly like it, or anything that uses the same principle he calls the "Pop-Over." It can be used to dye silks in a paper tube that is clean before and clean afterwards. Any number of silks can be dyed. The silks can also be expanded (say from a 12 inch silk to a 24 inch silk) or diminished. The principle can even be used to produce a blendo type effect with a dye tube, where three or four small silks merge into a large multi-colored one. All of therse effects have been accomplished before by other means, but not so simply and cleanly. His small (nine year old) hands can't quite handle the larger metal dye tubes, so this was his solution, and now that my gnarly old arthritic hands are having the same problem, it's been a good solution for me, too.

If anyone gets the article and can cite a prior source for the principle, I'll refund the money you spent on the article, but at this point I am quite confident that this is something new and credit will go to Eleazar for inventing it.
